National Player of the Week: 4/14 to 4/20
April 24, 2025
Today, we’re announcing our sixth National Player of the Week of the 2025 campaign as the calendar flipped to April.
The following players were submitted by their coaches to our state directors and they went on to earn the Player or Pitcher of the Week award in those states. From there, we sifted through the country’s POTWs and selected the top performer among them, singling them out as the sole National Player of the Week. If you’re a coach interested in submitting a nomination this season but have not yet received that form so far this spring, visit our staff directory to find the contact information for the state director overseeing your state’s season coverage.
RECENT WINNERS
Our staff took player stat lines from the week of April 14 to 20 into account when determining these awards.

Davis Collie 1B / LHP / Sycamore, IL / 2025“Collie put together one of the more impressive offensive weeks we have seen in some time, going 15-for-20 with three home runs (all in one game), three doubles, 21 RBIs, 14 runs scored, seven walks and two stolen bases.” – Peter Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin |
California
+ John Kasten, C/RHP (Clovis HS, 2025) | North Carolina:
“The North Carolina pitching commit was clutch all week in big spots at the plate for the Cougars who look to carry their tournament momentum into second half magic in the TRAC Conference. A bases-loaded, two-out hit to scored three for Clovis against Stockdale, and that was just one of seven hits on the week for Kasten, who also drew eight walks. He added a triple, two RBIs, and nine runs scored as he proved to be a one-man wrecking crew.
The stats are nothing new as Kasten has been swinging a smoking hot bat all season. Kasten is slashing .525/.729/1.375 so far this spring. He’s also sporting a .646 on-base percentage meaning that Kasten is still having a major impact on Clovis, despite being limited on the mound this spring.”
+ Cooper Berger, RHP (Santiago HS, 2025) | St. Mary's:
“Berger, a St. Mary’s signee, was on point from the outset against the No. 1 team in the country. The righty went six strong innings on just 67 pitches, limiting Corona to just one hit and one walk in the process. While Berger only struck out two hitters, it was his execution of the game plan that allowed him to pitch his strengths and help Santiago pull off the upset.
Berger and the pitching staff have played a large role in their winning games in the always tough Big VIII league. Berger, personally, has been on a roll in his last four starts. In four consecutive wins in games which Berger has started, the righty has tossed 23 innings having allowed just three earned runs to go with 17 strikeouts, including the biggest win of them all last week against an uber-talented Corona team.”
– Les Lukach, California State Director
Colorado
+ Mason Griffin, OF (Fossil Ridge HS, 2025) | Northern Colorado:
“Griffin has had quite the spring so far and last week's performances against Rocky Mountain HS stood out above the rest. The Northern Colorado commit went 5-for-7 in Week Six with two home runs, a double, five RBIs, and four runs scored. Griffin belted both of his homers in a slugfest in the Sabercats' second game of the week against the Lobos when Fossil Ridge won 15-13 (11-4 record overall). The senior leads his team in hitting with a .491 average, three homers, three triples, and nine doubles which is good for a 1.460 OPS across 58 plate appearances this spring. Griffin's ceiling continues to grow as he also comes with some higher-end tools thanks to his 6.70 time in the 60-yard dash, an 88 mph arm in the outfield, and a max exit speed over 100 mph.”
+ Sam Eldredge, RHP (Summit HS, 2026) | Cal Poly:
“Eldredge resides deep in the Rocky Mountains where he attends Summit HS in Breckenridge, Colo. This hasn't stopped the former Future Gamer from being one of the top arms in the state as the Cal Poly commit comes with a fastball around 90 mph with plenty of overall pitchability. Last week, Eldredge went six innings with 11 Ks, just one hit allowed, zero earned runs, and three walks against Rifle HS to earn the respective Pitcher of the Week award in the state. Eldredge comes with a strong and durable frame which should provide plenty of upside for him as he continues his baseball career. The junior has helped lead his 4A Summit program to an 11-4 record this season while Eldredge has pitched 39 innings with 69 Ks, and holds down a .614 average at the plate with 15(!) extra-base hits. ”
– Caleb Dameron, Colorado Staff
Florida
+ Daniel Tartaglia, LHP (Stoneman Douglas HS, 2025) | Hillsborough CC:
“Tartaglia, a Hillsborough CC recruit, earned Florida's Pitcher of the Week honors with an outstanding performance, throwing seven innings, allowing just one hit, no runs, no walks, while striking out 18 batters.”
+ Luke Anderson, 3B (Northside Christian HS, 2025) | State College of Florida JC:
“Anderson, a SCF recruit, was named Hitter of the Week after going 5-for-8 with 14 RBIs, four home runs, and six runs scored.”
– Rocco Iervasi, Florida Director of Operations
Idaho
+ Lincoln Mathis, LHP (Rocky Mountain HS, 2025) | College of Southern Idaho:
“Mathis, a senior, is helping keep the dream alive for the Grizzlies. His dominant performance on the mound helped keep Rocky Mountain in the race to go deep into the postseason. In a division where there is a lot of talented teams he has posted some strong stats on the year.
Against Timberline last week, he threw a complete game where he struck out 13, walked zero, and only allowed three runs. His dominance of the one, and confidence in his offense to produce runs helped Rocky secure the win 10-3 over Timberline.”
+ Cannon Eddie, C (Highland HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Highland, an uncommitted junior, added to his strong junior campaign last week. He showed his present power at the plate, blasting five extra-base hits – two home runs, two triples, and a double for the Rams. Highland has had a strong junior season hitting for a .483 average with 28 hits, four of which have left the yard, seven doubles, four triples, and he has only struck out six times this season while compiling 21 walks.
He is also a strong backstop for Highland with only two errors on the year and allowing zero stolen bases. Highland is currently in first in the High Country Conference as they finish up their week of conference play.”
– Cam Black-Araujo, West Coast Content Manager
Illinois
+ Zane Caves , LHP (Minooka HS, 2026) | Michigan State:
“Caves shut down one of the top offenses in the entire state en route to firing a complete-game (7 IP) shutout, allowing just one hit and one walk with nine strikeouts.”
– Peter Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin
Kansas
+ Grady Westphal, RHP/SS (Blue Valley HS, 2025) | Texas:
“The No. 1 ranked player in the Sunflower State's senior class showed why last week. The Texas signee twirled a no-hitter, coming just two HBPs short of a perfect game. A talented athlete, Westphal also hit .500 for the week, collecting five singles, one double, one triple, and five RBIs.”
– Andy Urban, Regional Supervisor
Kentucky
+ Kendrick Dunning, SS/C (McCracken County HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“The uncommitted junior picked up six hits last week, five of them going for extra bases. Dunning also drew a walk and two HBPs for an OBP of .643 on the week. The 2024 Future Games alum boosted his season average to an even .500 to lead the loaded McCracken County offense, who have stood firmly at No. 7 overall in our Power 25. The top-ranked junior shortstop now leads the Mustangs offense in almost all categories this year, with 22 hits, 18 runs, 18 RBIs, and 12 extra-base hits, including five homers, and he's also walked eight times and swiped six bags.”
+ Tyler Schumacher, RHP/SS (Campbell County HS, 2026) | Marshall:
“The two-way Marshall commit pitched a complete-game shutout against a talented South Laurel team, handing them just their third loss of the season. The Campbell County righty was dominant all day long, allowing just four hits, two walks, while striking out an impressive 15 hitters as the Camels picked up their 13th win of the season. Although it didn't matter for this award, the No. 2-ranked shortstop in the class flexed his two-way talent at the plate as well, recording 12 hits last week while scoring six runs, driving in seven and stealing four bags. Schumacher now leads the Camels' pitching staff with a team-low 1.35 ERA through 26.0 IP, allowing only five earned and nine walks while recording a stellar 40 Ks.”
– Jamie Tessoff, Kentucky Scouting Director
Indiana
+ Mason Barth, SS/RHP (Andrean HS, 2025) | Notre Dame:
“Barth dazzled in Week Three, helping Andrean to an undefeated start. The two-time all-state shortstop was ultra-productive for the 59ers against quality opponents, going a solid 7-for-12, though his batting average doesn't tell the full story. The Notre Dame recruit accounted for 13 total runs (6 RBI; 7 R) and caused havoc on the bases with 10 stolen bases on the week. The sure-handed shortstop also played a clean infield with zero errors in several chances. He was just as, if not more, dominant on the bump. Barth tossed 6.2 innings retiring 15 of the 20 hitters he faced via the punchout, and allowed just two runs, collecting the win on the mound for the 2A No. 2 program. ”
– Cooper Trinkle, Indiana Scouting Director
Massachusetts
+ James Rabuse, RHP (Wahconah HS, 2026) | Northeastern:
“Rabuse threw a perfect game with 19 strikeouts and he had two hits himself, including a homerun against Mount Greylock. It doesn't get much better than that for the Northeastern commit.”
– Dennis Healy, New England Co-Scouting Director
Michigan
+ Brett Faccio, RHP (Midland HS, 2025) | Yale University:
“Faccio had an electric start against league foe Grand Blanc – hurling 15 strikeouts and allowing zero hits. This was a strong outing forcing weak contact, commanding three pitches for strikes.”
– Adam Goodwin, Michigan Scouting Director
Minnesota
+ Parker Erickson, RHP (Sacred Heart HS, 2025) | St. Cloud State:
“The St. Cloud State recruit dominated last week for Sacred Heart, tossing a seven-inning shutout, allowing just one hit, and he punched out a whopping 19 batters.”
+ Sam Haugen, OF (Esko HS, 2025) | Minnesota State:
“Haugen, who's committed to Mankato, was 7-for-9 last week with two homers that helped him drive in nine total on the week – and he also stole two bags.”
– Andy Judkins, Minnesota Scouting Director
Mississippi
+ Sullivan Reed, 3B (Lamar HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Reed picked up our Player of the Week honor after the sophomore went 7-for-8 with two home runs, four doubles, a triple, and 12 RBIs. The former Junior Future Games participant is hitting .616 on the year with nine home runs, 12 doubles, and 54 RBIs total.”
+ Maddox Miller, LHP (Oak Grove HS, 2025) | Mississippi State:
“Miller earned the state's Pitcher of the Week honor after a strong performance against No. 8-ranked Petal. The Mississippi State signee threw seven innings, allowing four hits, no earned runs, with nine strikeouts. On the season the lefty is 8-1 with a 0.93 ERA with 82 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched.”
– Matt Miller, Mississippi State Director
Nevada
+ Hudson Ciulla, RHP (Bishop Gorman HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Arguably no one in Nevada has seen their stock rise as much as 2026 right-hander Hudson Ciulla over the last year. A standout performer at the 2024 Future Games, he has only continued to produce impressive performance after impressive performance with his latest earning him the Pitcher of the Week Honors.
After posting a complete game shutout where he struck out 12 hitters, he needed 105 pitches to shut down a talented Bakersfield Christian group. Ciulla will be a key piece for the Gaels as playoffs quickly approach and each team gears up for a deep run.”
+ Alex Scaggs, 3B (Arbor View HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“The sophomore continues his big year for the Aggies as a staple in the heart of their order, leading the team in batting average at .408 and RBIs at 21 and home runs at five. His huge week included a multi-homer game against No. 10-ranked Foothill in a key conference game. The hit tool is real and has proven itself time and time again with even more power expected to come over the next few years.”
– Cam Black-Araujo, West Coast Content Manager
North Carolina
+ Zack Wester, RHP (Pisgah HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Wester delivered a masterful performance on the mound at the Shelby Easter Tournament, throwing a perfect game in a 6-0 victory. The right-hander needed just 73 pitches to complete the seven-inning gem, striking out 10 without allowing a hit, walk, or baserunner.”
+ Caden Davidson, 1B (TC Roberson HS, 2025) | Gaston JC:
“Davidson delivered a standout week at the plate, going 7-for-10 with a home run, a double, 6 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. He was a key contributor in TC Roberson’s perfect 3-0 week, highlighted by a 3-for-3 performance against Wesleyan Christian Academy.”
– Patrick Johnson, North Carolina Asst. Scouting Director
New York
+ Shane Jelenevsky, RHP (Iona Prep HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Jelenevsky threw his second consecutive no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Mount St. Michael's. The former Team New York Future Gamer went seven innings, racking up 16 Ks while walking only one. Here's his last two starts: 2-0, 13 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 27 Ks. The 6-foot-5 righty has been a strike-throwing machine, working in the 87-89 mph range with the ability to land and expand his curveball at will.”
– Jared Carrier, New York Executive Director
Oklahoma
+ Tres Lorah, RHP (Elgin HS, 2025) | NOC-Tonkawa JC:
“The NOC-Tonkawa signee was outstanding on both sides of the ball for the Elgin Owls. On the mound, the senior threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out 13. At the plate, Lorah was equally impressive as he went 6-for-13 with two homers and five RBIs. Elgin is in the midst of another big year as last week they improved to 21-3 on the season with Lorah playing a big role in that success.”
– Bret Schwartz, Oklahoma Scouting Director
Oregon
+ Caleb Babcock, OF (Philomath HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“The junior showed out in a big way, finishing 10-for-17 on the week to win HOTW honors. Babcock had an incredible 15 RBIs and scored seven runs, slugging four doubles and walking twice as well. The lefty was most recently seen at the Corvallis Preseason ID this February.”
– Dylan Grenz, PNW Associate Scout
Tennessee
+ Alex Bedford, OF (Lawrence County HS, 2025) | Tennessee:
“The Tennessee signee had a strong week at the plate where he batted .750 over a four-game span. Bedford would collect nine hits on the week that included two triples, three homers, while also walking six times for a 2.267 OPS.”
+ Patrick Freeman, RHP (Oakland HS, 2026) | Belmont:
“Facing district opponent Blackman, Freeman would throw an eight-inning no-hitter with 15 Ks, while just allowing two walks in a 1-0 win. The Belmont commit has had a strong start to his junior season and looks like he had commanded increased pitchability.”
– Hunter Martin, Tennessee Scouting Director
Texas
+ Spencer Duncan, OF (Gateway College Prep HS, 2025) | Oklahoma Christian:
“Duncan put together a dominant performance in Week Nine, earning himself the state's Player of the Week honors. The Oklahoma Christian recruit went 5-for-9 at the plate, showcasing his power and speed with two home runs and a double. He also racked up four runs scored and three RBIs, playing a key role in his team's success. Duncan was a triple away from the cycle on April 18, too.”
+ Hank Rizzo, RHP (Prosper HS, 2025) | Grayson JC:
“A Grayson JC recruit, Rizzo was nearly untouchable in Week Nine, earning Pitcher of the Week honors with a lights-out performance on the mound. Rizzo tossed 6.2 hitless innings, racking up an incredible 17 strikeouts. His dominance set the tone and left opposing hitters with no answers all game long. The Eagles would go on to win this game 6-0 behind this stellar performance.”
– Brandon Gowins, Texas State Director
Virginia
+ Gabe Jenkins, 3B (Hanover HS, 2025) | Virginia Military Institute:
“Jenkins came up to the plate in the top of the sixth and hit a two-run home run to put the Hawks ahead of their rival Atlee last week. That hit would go on to be the big one that they needed to defeat the former top-five team in the VA/DC Power 25 rankings. The senior VMI signee has been a vital piece in the middle of the order for the Hawks this season.”
– Jason Burton, Virginia/DC Scouting Director
Washington
+ Xavier Neyens, INF (Mount Vernon HS, 2025) | Oregon State:
“The Prep Baseball All-American Game alum is one of the top ranked seniors in the country, and Neyens posted a massive offensive week last week, hitting .700 with three towering home runs to the opposite field. The Oregon State commit also had eight RBIs, scored seven runs and walked three times as a part of his standout performance.”
+ Brandon Stone, RHP/INF (East Valley HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Stone has been dominant this season and he faced a tough Selah squad, spinning a five-inning perfect game to win POTW honors. Stone struck out 12 and did not allow a single base runner in a fantastic effort. The right-hander was most recently seen at PNW Preseason All-State this winter.”
+ Grady Saunders, RHP (Thurston HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“An Oregon State commit, Saunders is one of the top arms in his state class and he was dominant last week, throwing seven innings of no-hit ball while striking out 16 batters. Saunders did not walk any, with one hit-by-pitch as the only blemish on his otherwise perfect outing. Saunders was seen by Prep Baseball staff a few weeks ago, running his fastball into the low-90s, and he should continue to be one of the best arms in the state.”
– Dylan Grenz, PNW Associate Scout
Wisconsin
+ Owen Dobberstein, RHP (Pewaukee HS, 2025) | Evangel:
“Dobberstein has operated as one of the aces the last two seasons, also one of the state’s top performers in that span. Dobberstein has already stacked multiple quality outings together, his most recent being the most impressive, tossing a five inning no-hitter, striking out 13 batters while walking the first batter of the game.
In a conference matchup against Greendale, the right-hander toed the rubber, striking out the first batter and walking the second batter of the game before inducing a double play to get out of the inning.
Dobberstein proceeded to strikeout the next 11 batters of the in a row, an error would allow another batter to reach base before picking up his 13th strikeout of the game to finish the fifth inning.
The Evangel commit is picking up where he left off after impressing in front of our staff earlier this spring. It’s a complimentary two-pitch mix that misses bats, across the outing Dobberstein picked up 16 swings and misses while only facing 16 batters. The fastball reaches 89 mph with carry, and holds velocity deeper into starts while locating to different spots in the zone. The slider is a swing and miss weapon, sitting in the upper-70s with sharp and tight action showing feel to locate throughout the zone with confidence.”
+ Logan Hagman, C (Hudson HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“On the week Hagman went 8-for-12 with seven extra base hits including one home run against one of the state’s top left-handers while also collecting six doubles on the week to go along with eight RBIs and runs scored, walking three times.
Tuesday, Hagman got his week started off with a double header against Menomonie. In game one Hagman went 1-for-4 on the day with two runs scored and a two RBI double in the top of the fifth. Going 2-for-3 in game two with two more doubles and three RBIs and three runs scored, walking once.
On Friday, Hudson traveled down to The Rock in Franklin for the Prep Baseball Wisconsin High School Invitational for two games. In the nightcap against Kaukauna, Hagman went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and a home run driving in three RBIs and scoring three runs himself. Hagman would end the week with a 1-for-1 day with two walks and a double on Saturday.”
