NY Summer Championships: 10 Standouts

Chris Dryll
Northeast Tournament Scouting Director

The 2025 New York Summer Championships have officially concluded, wrapping up an exciting tournament with 55 teams competing across the 13U–18U divisions. After an action-packed weekend at the Lumber Yard, I’ve compiled a list of 10 standout players, along with 10 additional honorable mentions. The honorable mentions feature several 2025 grads, along with players I’ve excluded from the main list to avoid repetition from my previous article — headlined by nationally ranked right-hander Tommy Driver.

Anthony Batkay 3B / SS / John Jay - East Fishkill, NY / 2027

Infielder was impressive throughout an undefeated pool play for the Taconic Rangers. Batkay showcased advanced body control with a balanced stride and active barrel pre-pitch. Quick-twitch actions stood out during rotation, with swift and efficient hands that remained on plane throughout the swing phase. A strong and engaged lower half creates energy on both sides of the ball, arm strength has reached 87 MPH from shortstop - most recently at our "NY Preseason ID: Hudson Valley" on March 3rd.

Tyler Bilka OF / RHP / Colonie, NY / 2027

Speedy two-way player with athleticism and impact tools at 6-1, 165LBS. Bilka stood out just a week after recording strong metrics at the New York State Games, backing it up with consistent in-game success. While hitting leadoff and patrolling center, he put his 6.68 60-yard speed to use with an RBI triple right out of the gate. Also shows a quick barrel at the dish, accelerating into the zone at 23g while producing exit velocities up to 94 MPH. On the mound, Bilka tossed five shutout innings in a dominant start, striking out eight without issuing a walk.

Riley Brooks RHP / 3B / Colonie, NY / 2027

Brooks turned in a dominant performance in the final pool play game, tossing a complete game shutout and no-hitter over 7 innings with 11 strikeouts to propel the Frozen Ropes Outlaws into playoffs. He showed a slight uptick in velocity since our "Preseason ID: Last Chance – Upstate" event in March, now topping at 88 MPH. Brooks consistently missed bats in the zone and held velocity deep into his outing. Working from a deceptive sidearm slot, he reaches 2300+ RPM on the fastball with 17 inches of arm-side run, manipulating shape to ride it above barrels or fill the zone with lateral movement. His slider shows late sweep at 2400 RPM, effectively expanding outside the zone to generate consistent swing-and-miss.

Connor Davy OF / 2B / Bainbridge-Guilford, NY / 2026

A 2024 Future Games alum, Davy continues to prove himself as one of the premier athletes in the state, recently standing out at the 2025 New York State Games. A key contributor for RBI Baseball 18U, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound outfielder blends high-end speed and power, recording 60-yard dash times as fast as 6.52 with exit velocities exceeding 100 MPH. He generates explosive metrics at the plate with 34g of rotational acceleration and 26 mph hand speed, translating into consistent offensive impact. Davy found barrel throughout the tournament, highlighted by an electric two-run inside-the-park home run.

Dexter Ellis RHP / 1B / South Orange Middle, CT / 2029

Entering in the fifth inning of the quarterfinals, this incoming freshman made an immediate impact for Northeast Pride National 15U. At 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, Ellis struck out five batters over three innings, showcasing a fastball sitting 84–85 MPH with late ride. A fiery competitor, he also mixed in a sharp cutter and two distinct breaking balls, all while still just 14 years old.

Curtis Evans OF / RHP / Ballston Spa Senior High School, NY / 2028

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound rising sophomore showcased his tools throughout pool play and deep into Upstate Academy’s championship run. Evans displays feel for a heavy and controlled barrel, having posted exit velocities up to 94 MPH with 22g of rotational acceleration. A 7.11 runner in the 60-yard dash, he also flashes solid defensive actions in the outfield while displaying arm strength up to 88 MPH. A high-upside prospect to watch in the 2028 class.

Max Hogan RHP / 3B / Saratoga Springs, NY / 2027

The slender, high-waisted right-hander topped out at 87 MPH on his fastball while showcasing a solid three-pitch mix. He blends a cutter/slider sitting 81–82 MPH with a high-70s breaking ball featuring distinct two-tier shape. In an eye-catching start, he threw seven strong innings while allowing just one earned run.

Nick Masciarelli RHP / 3B / Mahopac, NY / 2026

A versatile two-way player, Masciarelli impressed at our "NY Preseason ID: Downstate" in February. Standing 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, he recorded exit velocities up to 98 MPH with maximum distances exceeding 350 feet. His bat speed has topped 79 MPH with arm strength from third up to 86. On the mound, he's showcased a solid four-pitch mix, topping at 86 MPH with 2250 RPM on his fastball.

Sawyer Saddlemire RHP / SS / Salem High school,NY, NY / 2028

The 6-foot, 185-pound incoming sophomore quickly burst onto the scene during this tournament. Showing impressive growth, he’s added 12 MPH to his fastball since 2023, now topping out at 88 MPH. His delivery remains raw, featuring a short arm action and over-the-top arm slot that helps generate carry above barrels. While his command wavered at times, the foundational tools and building blocks for future success are clearly in place for this 15-year-old prospect.

Austin Seipp OF / 3B / John Jay - East Fishkill, NY / 2026

A highly tooled-up athlete at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Seipp first grabbed attention at these NY Summer Championships by launching a monster two-run homer over the left field wall. He’s posted exit velocities over 100 MPH with maximum distances reaching 400 feet during BP. At the New York State Games on June 25, he ran a 6.82 60-yard dash and topped 90 MPH from the outfield. An impactful presence in the Rangers lineup throughout pool play, he’s a high-ceiling talent to keep close tabs on moving forward.
