The 2026 high school baseball season is right around the corner, and as always, excitement is building across the Bayou State. Programs from every corner of Louisiana have been hard at work this offseason—honing skills, building chemistry, and setting their sights on a return trip to Sulphur for the LHSAA State Championships. As is tradition, the state is once again loaded with talent, from seasoned veterans to rising underclassmen ready to make their mark.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll take an in-depth look at teams from every region as part of our comprehensive season preview series. These previews will lead right up to Opening Day, followed by the release of our Power 25 Rankings and the return of our always-popular Game of the Week feature.

Team Preview

Few programs in Louisiana have built the type of winning tradition that Pitkin has over the last several seasons. Under the direction of Head Coach J.C. Holt, the Tigers have become a powerhouse in Class B, capturing two of the last three state championships and once again returning a loaded core for the 2026 campaign.

The Tigers’ roster is headlined by sophomore utility man Gavin Holt, the reigning Class B MVP, who was sensational as a freshman last spring, hitting .410 with a .546 OBP and 1.137 OPS, while driving in 27 runs and scoring 34 more. Holt’s combination of maturity, athleticism, and leadership at a young age has made him one of the most exciting underclassmen in the state.

On the mound, senior LHP Lincon Stephens will anchor the staff once again. The two-time All-State selection dominated opponents in 2025, going 8-1 with a 1.43 ERA and 68 strikeouts, and will look to lead Pitkin back to Sulphur this spring.

 

Offensively, the Tigers return an impressive group of All-State bats:

-Senior SS Kash Wisby – .319 AVG, .411 OBP, .815 OPS, 25 RBI, 28 Runs

-Senior UTL Gage James – .318 AVG, .458 OBP, .893 OPS, 25 RBI, 30 Runs, 20 SB

-Senior UTL J-Dub Davis – .329 AVG, .481 OBP, .876 OPS, 25 RBI, 29 Runs

-Sophomore C Tagen Farmer – .330 AVG, .388 OBP, .751 OPS, 25 RBI

That mix of upperclass leadership and underclass star power gives Pitkin one of the most complete lineups in Class B.

Outlook

Even after losing three standout seniors, this year’s group has the makeup of a team built for another deep postseason run. With Stephens leading the pitching staff and a balanced lineup returning nearly top to bottom, the Tigers will once again be one of the favorites to hoist the trophy in Sulphur. Expect Pitkin to remain a Class B title contender with their sights firmly set on bringing home a third championship in four years.
