January 23, 2026
As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Maddox has been on our radar for quite some time as one of the top catchers in the area, regardless of class. Drumright shows excellent instincts for the position and an impressive internal clock behind the plate. While his tools may not immediately jump off the page, his defensive skills behind the dish are second to none in my eyes. He is also an advanced receiver, capable of framing and stealing strikes, making acrobatic picks, and throwing runners out, as shown below.
The Wichita State commit showed significant physical growth over the past year, and we believe there is still more strength to come over the next couple of years. Pair that continued development with his quick footwork and clean exchange, and you’re looking at a highly productive backstop for the Shockers once he gets on campus.
