The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2024 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 10

Tri Gaughf LHP / Harrison Central, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 92 / POS: 5 Gaughf had a solid week both at the plate and on the mound for the Red Rebels. The Mississippi Gilf Coast recruit went 6 for 10 at the plate with a homer and 3 RBI's while throwing 7 innings, allowing just 3 hits, 1 run, and striking out 5.

Cade Clinton C / OF / Sumrall, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 135 / POS: 14 The Holmes CC recruit picked up 6 hits in 10 at bats for the #5 ranked Bobcats including a double and 7 runs batted in.

Trey Davidson OF / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 76 / POS: 16 The Copiah Lincoln CC recruit went 6 for 7 with 2 doubles while scoring 3 runs for the #8 ranked Cougars.

Konnor Griffin OF / RHP / Jackson Prep, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 2 / POS: 1 Griffin paced the #1 ranked Patriots at the plate last week as he went 7 for 9 with 2 doubles, 9 stolen bases, and 3 RBI's. On the year the LSU recruit and MLB draft prospect is hitting .565 with 7 home runs, 28 rbi's, and a whopping 77 stolen bases.

Mac McDaniel CF / Columbia, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 13 / POS: 1 The uncommitted sophomore went 6 for 9 for the Wildcats with 2 doubles, 5 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in. On the year McDaniel is hitting .500 with 4 home runs and 24 runs batted in.

Hank Eaton RHP / SS / Kossuth, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 8 / POS: 3 OverallRank: 499 / POS: 170 The Auburn recruit earned our Player of the Week honor after going 8 for 11 with 3 home runs, 3 doubles, a triple, and 11 runs batted in.

Cayden Prestage OF / LHP / Itawamba, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 11 / POS: 4 The uncommitted dual prospect continued his solid year throwing a complete game shutout, allowing just 2 hits, while striking out 14!

Cooper Waddle LHP / OF / Itawamba , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 11 / POS: 3 OverallRank: 490 / POS: 50 The Southern Miss recruit earned our Pitcher of the Week honor after his dominant playoff performance the saw him throw 7 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit with 15 strikeouts.

Gage Thompson RHP / SS / Oak Grove , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 19 / POS: 5 The uncommitted 2 time Future Gamer continued his stellar 2024 by throwing 7 innings of 1 run ball, with 7 strikeouts. On the year Thompson is 7-0 with a 0.90 ERA for the #9 ranked Warriors.

Andrew Williams SS / RHP / Alcorn Central , MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 132 / POS: 24 The Itawamba CC recruit was solid on the bump for the Bears throwing 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, with 12 strikeouts.

Wes White RHP / 1B / Northwest Rankin , MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 60 / POS: 18 The Copiah Lincoln CC recruit added another good start to his 2024 season as he went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 9 for the #8 ranked Cougars.

Reid Garrett RHP / 1B / Caledonia, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 42 / POS: 4 The uncommitted sophomore threw a 7 inning shutout scattering 4 hits and striking out 13 for the Cavaliers.
