OVERALL RECORD: 23-8

DISTRICT RECORD: 11-3

POWER 25 WINS: 5

Coach Marty Lees and the Pioneers earned a regional host thanks to a strong district season finishing 2 games over the third place Sandites.  They got off to a tough start to the season that saw them begin the 2024 campaign at 3-4 and not putting the pieces together quite yet before ripping off a 20-4 record the rest of the way.  It’s no secret that the Pioneers have one of the more potent offenses with one of the deeper lineups in the state with speed and power sprinkled in 1 through 9.  At the top of the order they rely on freshman Brady Holliday to set the table and he has more than held his own in setting the table for some of the bigger boppers in the middle.  Parker Jeffery has gotten hot as of late moving to the three hole and providing some front protection for the top ranked 2025 in Ethan Holliday.  Holliday still has the ability to change the game at any time with light-tower power and an advanced approach.  They stretch the lineup with physical hitters in Talon Kendrick, Tyner Wilson, and Owen Coil to not allow the opposing staff to take a break.  Blake Aziere has stepped into the number one role on the mound and has delivered consistent results working deep into games and they are starting to get some good innings out of Quinton Robinson and Isaiah Smith.  The Pioneers have the offensive firepower to slug their way back to the State Tournament after a run last year and if they continue to get strong pitching performances from their main arms, they have the pieces to make a deep run in the next two weeks.

BIXBY SPARTANS

OVERALL RECORD: 21-10

DISTRICT RECORD: 9-5

POWER 25 WINS: 7

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jett Hope, 2024, OF/RHP, OSU commit

Kaemyn Franklin, 2025, INF/RHP, OU commit

Cooper Leggett, 2026, RHP, Uncommitted

Brian Justice, 2025, INF/RHP, Uncommitted

Barrett Standley, 2027, OF/RHP, Uncommitted

Cord Nolan, 2026, OF, Uncommitted

Cade Lewis, 2024, INF/RHP, Uncommitted

Brock Copass, 2027, C, Uncommitted

Cody Crull, 2024, OF, Uncommitted

Daxton Sullivan, 2027, UTL, Uncommitted

Coach Delay and the Spartans spent a large majority of the 2024 season as our top ranked program with some of the more impressive wins and a very difficult schedule.  Having to replace a lot of the pieces off of last year’s 6A State Championship team, the Spartans retooled with a much more aggressive offensive approach with more action and a pitching staff with a lot of high-end talent.  They have been getting big production out of their younger players on the roster with Barrett Standley having a breakout year, Brock Copass solidifying himself as the everyday backstop, Cord Nolan providing some punch in the lineup now that he is back and healthy, and receiving a boost from Dax Sullivan the past few weeks after getting the call-up from JV.  These young bats mixed in with some accomplished upperclassmen like Lewis, Hope, and Justice provides a serious punch when all cylinders are firing.  What gives the Spartans their best chance at a repeat run as champs is their deep pitching staff with multiple impact arms.  They have the two power arms in Hope and Franklin that can rack up strikeouts in a hurry paired with two high pitchability arms in Justice and Leggett.  All four of these arms are fully capable of taking over games on their own when on and even with some of the results not going in their favor over the past two weeks, they still have the type of talent and experience needed to make a deep run if they can get through this week.

JENKS TROJANS

OVERALL RECORD: 15-21

DISTRICT RECORD: 5-9

POWER 25 WINS: 3

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Tanner Primeaux, 2024, 1B, Crowder commit

Blake Whittington, 2026, OF, Uncommitted

Carson Rackers, 2026, C, Uncommitted

Clark Cariker, 2027, MIF, Uncommitted

Adam Hilsheimer, 2024, RHP/INF, Labette commit

Jett Calmus, 2024, OF, UCO Football commit

Henry Warta, 2024, RHP, Uncommitted

Caden Cruz, 2024, INF, Kansas Wesleyan commit

Coach Hendricks and the Trojans have taken their growing pains throughout the 2024 season as they worked in some first time starters in impact positions.  April has been a tough go for the Trojans as they enter the postseason winning only 5 of their last 16 games as they have had some shake ups in the order to try and build a spark.  One thing the Trojans have going for them ahead of their matchup against Bixby is they did take down the Spartans in their only meeting this season with a 6-0 victory back in March.  They rely on seniors Hilsheirmer and Warta on the mound who have each proven the ability to work deep into games in the past and they do sport one of the more athletic offenses with speedsters Calmus, Whittington, and an exciting young prospect in the freshman Clark Cariker to give defenses some problems.  For the Trojans to make it through this regional and onto the state tournament they will need some of the upperclassmen to step up in impact situations and play near perfect defense which would give them the chance of pulling off some upsets which they have already shown the ability to do this year.

PONCA CITY WILDCATS

OVERALL RECORD: 12-24

DISTRICT RECORD: 3-11

POWER 25 WINS: 1

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Brody Wicker, 2024, INF/RHP, UCO commit

Kalon Covey, 2026, MIF, Uncommitted

Colton Jones, 2024, UTL/RHP, Uncommitted

Titan Bute, 2024, MIF, Uncommitted

The Wildcats under Coach Middlebrooks are one of the more intriguing four seeds headed into regional play this week.  While their record of 12-24 is nothing to admonish, they have a puncher’s chance against anyone in the state thanks to senior Brody Wicker and his power arm on the mound.  Wicker has the type of ability to take over games like he did just a week ago where he punched out 11 while only allowing one run against a red hot Union lineup that can be difficult to punch out.  He also provides some offensive thump in the middle of the lineup with their first four hitters each having the ability to handle high-end pitching.  While they might not be as deep as their competitors, the Wildcats have the type of higher-end talent that can definitely put a scare into each of their regional opponents and should not be taken lightly this week.
