Nashville Rising Stars ID: Infielder Reports

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

NASHVILLE, TN - The Prep Baseball Tennessee Nashville Rising Stars ID was held on Sunday, April 7th at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of players from the 2028-2029 classes from Volunteer state. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at the scouting reports from the Nashville Rising Stars ID.

Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 75.6 mph. 303' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. Firm accurate throws from a short compact arm action

Arm: RH. INF-75 mph. short swing of the arm behind him to an over the top arm slot, firm throws with still developing arm strength.

Body: 6-1, 170-pounds. Medium build with an athletic and leaner body, has room for more size and strength.
Hit: RHH. Tall stance at the start with his hands loose is a great position. Small leg kick precedes an aggressive forward move, he is in a great position at launch and creates a lot of separation in the process. He is aggressive to get the ball out front of the plate. Living in deep left field, as well as left center and down the third base line. Shows off great bat speed for his age that should continue to get better going forward.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 82.5 mph. 305' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-73 mph. Accurate throws, with the ability to use multiple arm slots. Foreseeable increase in arm strength to come in the coming years.

Rotates very well as the back leg drives, causing the back leg to come up slightly into a balance finish. worked towards the middle of the field and the left field gaps, has a tendency to drop the barrel and get under it. Look for more barrel control and speed from his swing in the coming years.
Power: 80 max exit velocity, averaged 69.7 mph. 266' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-73 mph. OF-75 mph. Showed the ability to throw from different slots, mainly working from a ¾ slot. Accurate throws from the still developing arm.

Arm Action: RH. Easy arm path with a short connected swing out of hand with a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T73, 69-72 mph. Very vertical fastball that will work best up in the zone. Will need to increase spin but should get above a lot of barrels. T1831, 1698 average rpm.

Much more strength in the tank as the body and swing develops.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 74.7 mph. 304' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-71 mph. Quick release produces accurate throws to first with a low ¾ arm slot.

Power: 82 max exit velocity, averaged 68.8 mph. 286' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-71 mph. Very accurate on the bag throws from a high ¾ release slot.
Defense: Solid foot and glove work, arrives on time to the ball. Could carry more momentum through the ball for better throws.

Peyton Deese, BATTLE GROUND ACADEMY (TN), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-8, 139-pounds. Smaller frame at present with twitchy athletic motions. Lots of development to be seen down the road.

Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 71.8 mph. 245' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-70 mph. Raw arm action, produces accurate throws.
Defense: Choppy steps get to and through the ball on time. Glove hand can be erratic at times but is presented with plenty of time. Shows good breakdown of footwork in front of the ball.
ATH: 7.96 runner in the 60.

Nash Carter, CHRIST PRESBYTERIAN ACADEMY (TN), 2029

Body: 5-10, 145-pounds. Very long and lean body at present that projects for both more height and size.
Hit: LHH. Wide stance with his weight favoring his backside. Hands begin extended past the rear shoulder. Small leg lift produces a forward move, which the hands resist very well. Creates great separation before the backside launches into a balanced finish. Lived to the pullside with hard hit line drives, a lot to like about his swing and bat path which will generate much more power as he grows into his body. Exciting swing to watch develop.
Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 76.4 mph. 294' max distance.

Kolby Brumley, POPE JOHN PAUL II HIGH SCHOOL (TN), 2029

Body: 5-7, 135-pounds. Smaller frame at present, with long arms that he should grow into well in the next couple years.
Hit: LHH. Swing: Begins with feet shoulder width apart with a tall stance. His hands begin even with his ear. A forward stride pushes his hands back. At the foot plant the back leg launches and drives through the frontside. The bat path through the zone is inconsistent at times, will occasionally be tomahawk-esq on top of the ball, and occasionally deep through the zone on plane. Had loud barrels to the middle/pull side of the field.
Power: 72 max exit velocity, averaged 56.0 mph. 223' max distance.
Arm: LH. INF-64 mph. Short compact arm action with an over the top slot, much more arm strength to come as the body develops.

Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 76.7 mph. 280' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-64 mph. On target throws from a ¾ arm slot.
Defense: Moves well to either side with good, fundamental footwork breakdown at the ball. Trouble regaining momentum through the ball but that will come with more physical growth.
