The Regional at Edmond Memorial will start on Tuesday April 30th featuring what is considered by most to be the most difficult of all the 6A regionals.  Three 6A baseball blue bloods are in this field of four with each making a legitimate case to playing their way into next week.  We breakdown each team's record, players to watch, and a deeper look at each team as they head into this week's regional and try to make it to the state tournament next week.

Coach Holman and the Bulldogs enter the postseason with a 22-9 record and arguably one of the deeper rosters in the state.  They were able to overcome the loss of Ace Noah Entrekin with arms like Hines and Williams stepping up into starter roles and flourishing.  They rely on those two guys to pick up swings and misses on the front end and have strong seasons from Baker and Hudson Robinson out of the pen to round out the staff.  Where the Bulldogs make their biggest statement is on offense with weapons up and down the lineup.  At the top of the lineup the Winchester brothers have done an excellent job of setting the table for the middle of the order featuring the talented switch hitter Cooper Kardokus and the emergence of power bat Karson Evans.  Justin Tracy has been a productive hitter for a long time and they are starting to get some production out of one of the fastest players in the state in Tyler Robinson (6.51 60) since being called up earlier this month.  Their ability to drive in runs up and down the lineup paired with their very strong defense and power arms makes for them to be considered one of the tougher outs this week as they look to push through to the state tournament.

Coach McGuire brings a ton of postseason experience with him in his first year with the Antlers and has a deep roster looking to get back to the state tournament in 2024.  While the Antlers have spent a bulk of the season hovering around the .500 mark, they boast experienced players in key spots in both the lineup and on the mound that give them a chance in this tough regional.  Offensively they are led by Ashton Hartwig who has been a mainstay in the middle of the lineup the past couple of years and he’s surrounded by talented hitters Caden Allen and Logan Hedrick.  Kellen Frizzell has been highly productive the past few seasons for the Antlers and provides a steady presence in the middle of the order.  On the mound, the Antlers have a young but deep pitching staff with lots of arms gaining experience throughout the year.  Hartwig and Atkinson have been getting the district starts as of late and they have plenty of strike throwers behind them that could play in their favor if they get into a situation that would require them to play extra games throughout the week.  If the Antlers can get good starts on the mound, they have the type of offensive firepower to not be taken lightly and they have proven themselves in the past couple of years to play their best baseball this time of year.

PUTNAM CITY NORTH PANTHERS

Coach Johnson and the Panthers have had their challenges throughout the 2024 campaign especially on the pitching side where they have given up double digit runs in 15 games this season.  To their credit, the Panthers have played a schedule largely featuring 6A opponents and have done a solid job against teams in the lower divisions.  Cayden Swart is a bright spot on offense with a solid swing from the right side which has landed him his commitment to Rose State next fall.  The Panthers have done a good job of working in the underclassmen throughout the year and they should be gaining valuable experience to help propel the program forward for the coming years.

Coach Phillips and the Millers have definitely felt their fair share of adversity this spring after a ruling by the OSSAA forced them to forfeit 18 games that they had already completed this spring.  With that ruling, it forced the Millers into the 4-seed spot with an official district record of 4-10.  This is not your typical 4-seed in a 6A regional as they have the type of talent and toughness to be considered amongst a group that can call themselves title contenders later this month.  They have accomplished hitters up and down the lineup with Owens, Parr, Parent and Graham who each played a part in their run to the 6A state semifinals last spring.  Grady Hoke has provided a nice piece in the starting rotation and they use a mix and match type approach on the mound to find the right matchups.  Nobody sees the record for the official record for the Millers this spring and thinks that's indicative of their actual performance on the field.  Thanks to this ruling the Millers are by far the most dangerous 4-seed in recent memory and will look to continue to let their play dictate how far they go in the playoffs in 2024.
