The 2024 MSHSAA District playoffs are set to start tomorrow, May 10th, for Classes 1-through-4, with the Class 5 and Class 6 bracket kicking off next week. From now until then, teams across the state will compete for an opportunity to capture a District crown and punch their ticket to Sectionals, and ultimately a spot in Ozark. 

Over the next few days, our staff will be previewing each District for Class 5 and Class 6. Here are the Districts we have previewed so far: 

+ Class 6, District 8

Below you’ll learn more about Class 6, District 7 and its outlook with the playoffs set to start next week.

+ Lee’s Summit West (26-9) grabs the top seed in this District after spending the entirety of the season as one of the top teams in Missouri. Presently, the Titans are No. 6 on our ‘Large School’ rankings, which is the lowest they’ve been on our board in 2024. Their roster has a productive mix of talented and experienced players, as they’ll roll out multiple upperclassmen that have already committed to play baseball at the collegiate level. They have conference series wins over Liberty North and Raymore-Peculiar this year, and they’ve also taken down Kearney, Liberty, Glendale, and Staley. On top of that, the Titans have also defeated every team in their District at one point this year. With the playoffs set to start next week, Lee’s Summit West looks every bit the part of a true state championship contender. 

+ Raymore-Peculiar (18-16) has rebounded nicely this spring after posting a 10-21 record in 2023. The Panthers earned the second seed in this District and have five wins against teams in this grouping in 2024. Ray-Pec’s strength is unquestionably their arms, as they run four or five deep in terms of true impact arms on this pitching staff. How they perform around those talented pitchers will ultimately determine the direction of their postseason aspirations, but the ingredients are in line for Ray-Pec to make some noise in this District. 

+ The Tigers are a feisty bunch, as Lee’s Summit (21-15) checks in as the third seed in this grouping. They are an experienced, battle-tested team that’s played a tough schedule this spring and features a multitude of quality upperclass bats up and down the lineup. Lee’s Summit took down Staley earlier in the year and went 3-1 in the River City Baseball Tournament in mid-April. They have a win against all of the teams in this District except for the top-ranked Titans and they also beat Logan-Rogersville, our No. 1 ‘Small School’, by 10 runs. What type of production they get on the mound will ultimately determine the direction of this team in the playoffs, but Lee’s Summit has a squad capable of playing spoiler at any point in time during this postseason stretch. 

+ Truman (18-14) left a positive impression on our staff in the Columbia Tournament after they took down ranked Eureka and Jefferson City in front of our scouts. The Patriots are the fourth seed in this District and have an offense that has put up runs in bunches at times, scoring 10 or more runs in 14 of their 32 games. 

+ Rockhurst (9-22) won this District last spring, taking down Ray-Pec, Lee’s Summit, and Lee’s Summit West in the process before falling to Liberty North in sectionals. A large chunk from that group graduated, but names like Pete Miroslaw (2024), Lucas Redd (2024; St. Louis), Cooper Westra (2024; Johnson County CC), Nic Cipolla (2025), and Evan Damario (2025; Mizzou) are back for this year’s playoff run. 

+ Lee’s Summit North (10-23), Fort Osage (11-17-1), and Ruskin (2-22) are the last three seeds in this District.
