Prep Baseball Louisiana: Scout Blog (Week 10)

Alex Armand & Tyler Leary
Prep Baseball Louisiana Staff

The best time of the spring continued last week with the completion of the second round of the 2024 LHSAA playoffs, and our staff was able to get out and see several new teams and prospects. Today, we continue our coverage of the 2024 high school season with our updated Scout Blog.  The Louisiana Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from our scouting staff during the high school baseball season. This running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects, and anything else that is notable.  We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times, and more.

Continue to check back here, as our Louisiana Scouting Staff will add scouting reports, upon the completion of each week.

SATURDAY APRIL 27, 2024

+ 2025 RHP Thomas Allen (Benton HS)

The former Future Gamer got the start last Saturday against #4 seed Dutchtown with the chance to complete the upset sweep of the Griffins, and he delivered.  Allen came out firing with his heater at 89-92 mph and was able to hold his velocity throughout the outing, as he was still grabbing 90-91 mph in the later innings.  The uptick in velocity was nice, but it was the downward tilt and subtle arm-side run on his heater that really gave the Griffin hitters trouble.  He also flashed a developing 75-78 mph CB and low-80's CH, but didn't really have to use either in this outing.  The uncommitted junior ended up tossing a complete-game shutout giving up only 2 H with 2 BB and 9 K's to lead the Tigers to the upset sweep of Dutchtown.
