Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings

We are one week closer to starting the journey to state, and a number of teams have started to turn it on and play their best ball of the season. Our top three remains intact in this update, along with other movement throughout and four new teams cracking the list. 

The Roadrunners are now an eye-popping 28-0 after going 3-0 this past week, taking down Oak Lawn 7-5, Carmel 5-0 and Prairie Ridge 14-1. They hold down the No. 1 spot in this update for the sixth week in a row. The Hillmen of Joliet Catholic went a perfect 4-0 this past week to hang on to the No. 2 position, grabbing wins over former No. 12 Downers Grove North 6-5, Benet, 6-1, Coal City 10-0 and St. Viator 9-2. Rounding out the top three is Lincoln-Way West for the second week in a row, as they now sit at a spotless 23-0 on the year. They won three games this past week, taking down Riverside-Brookfield 2-1 and Andrew twice (10-3 & 3-1).

Climbing

+ No. 4 New Trier (21-3): The Trevians are up two spots to No. 4 after going 4-0 this past week, pushing their win streak to 18. They saw two wins over Maine South 6-0 & 9-2, also taking down Niles Notre Dame 12-2 and Niles North 11-0.

+ No. 6 St. Laurence (24-5): The Vikings are up one spot to No. 6 after a hard-fought 3-1 week. They saw wins over Mt. Carmel 5-1 and DePaul College Prep twice (9-0 & 11-1). Their lone loss came against Brother Rice by a narrow 2-1 margin. 

+ No. 7 Joliet West (25-4): The Tigers jump a spot after a perfect 3-0 week, stealing three games from Romeoville 13-5, 7-1 and 5-0 to improve their record to 25-4. 

+ No. 9 Lake Park (20-4): A 3-0 week has the Lancers rising to No. 9 in this update. They took down Glenbard North by the score of 3-0, and also took two games from Wheaton-Warrenville South 8-1 and 5-2. 

+ No. 11 St. Charles North (20-3-1): North is rising three spots to No. 11 after a dominant 4-0 week. They took down rival St. Charles East 10-1, while also taking three games from Glenbard North (7-1, 15-2, 11-0). 

+ No. 12 Normal Community (26-3): The Ironmen continue to roll, going 4-1 this past week to rise to No. 12. They took down Peoria in dominant fashion, winning 29-1 and 14-0. They also took down Bloomington 11-10 and Andrew 6-2. Their lone loss came to Normal University by the score of 6-4. 

+ No. 14 Lyons Township (18-5): The Lions are up two spots to No. 14 after a 3-1 week. They took a three-game set from conference foe Hinsdale Central (2-1, 7-4, 5-3), while their lone loss came against Naperville Central 4-3. 

+ No. 17 St. Rita (20-8): The Mustangs are up seven spots to No. 17 after a dominant 4-0 week. Their biggest win came against former No. 9 Providence Catholic 6-4, while they also took down DePaul College Prep 6-2 and Loyola twice (12-5 & 10-0).

+ No. 19 Monticello (27-2): Monticello is up one spot after a 3-0 week, seeing wins over Tuscola 10-0, Rantoul 8-4 and Mahomet-Seymour 6-2. 

+ No. 20 Fenwick (21-6): The Friars jump two spots to No. 20 after a 3-0 week. They took down Montini Catholic 8-3, St. Francis 12-5 and Aurora Central Catholic 9-0. 

Sinking

+ No. 5 Huntley (22-3): The Red Raiders drop to No. 5 after a 3-1 week. They fell to Cary Grove 5-4, but also took them down 8-2. In addition, they saw victories over Dundee-Crown 2-1 and Boylan Catholic 15-3.

+ No. 8 Edwardsville (18-8): The Tigers drop to No. 8 after a 4-2 week. They had some quality wins, taking down former No. 18 Glenwood 6-1, Highland 11-5, Belleville West 9-3 and Parkway West (MO) 10-0. Their two losses came against Teutopolis 5-1 and the aforementioned Belleville West 4-2. 

+ No. 10 Providence Catholic (20-6): The Celtics drop one spot to No. 10 after a 3-1 week. Their lone loss came against No. 24 at the time St. Rita 6-4, but they saw wins over Brother Rice 7-6 and St. Ignatius twice (13-7 & 10-1).

+ No. 13 Downers Grove North (21-5): The Trojans fall one spot to No. 13 after a 1-1 week. They took down Addison Trail 6-1 for their win, but their loss came against No. 2 Joliet Catholic 6-4. 

+ No. 16 Minooka (17-8): A 1-2 week has Minooka down to No. 16. They fell twice to Plainfield North (8-6 & 5-3), but they also beat them to dodge the sweep 7-6. 

+ No. 23 Glenwood (21-4): The Titans sit at No. 23 after a 3-2 week. They had some quality wins over Springfield Southeast 13-3, Sacred Heart-Griffin 4-0 and Teutopolis 10-6. Their two losses came to now No. 8 Edwardsville 6-1 and No. 22 Highland 12-10. 

+ No. 24 Libertyville (18-7-1): Two losses on the week has Libertyville sitting at No. 24 in this update. They fell to Mundelein 6-3 and Grayslake North 6-5, but also saw victories over Carmel 12-4, Riverside-Brookfield 11-4 and Mundelein 6-3. 

New to the Power 25

+ No. 18 Morris (20-3): Morris makes their Power 25 debut with a 20-3 record, coming off a 2-0 week in which they took down former No. 23 Sycamore 4-2 and 5-2. They are now winners of their last 10 straight, and have won 18 of their last 19 games. 

+ No. 21 Hampshire (20-6): Hampshire jumps into the rankings after an eye-opening 6-0 week, taking down Wesminister 10-0, Conant 12-1, Burlington Central 7-6, McHenry 11-1 and Dundee Crown twice (15-0 & 12-2). 

+ No. 22 Highland (23-2-1): The Bulldogs jump in at No. 22 after a 4-1 week, with their only loss coming to No. 8 Edwardsville 11-5. Their four wins came against Glenwood 12-10, Teutopolis 7-2 and Civic Memorial twice (2-1 & 10-0). 

+ No. 25 St. Joseph-Ogden (28-2): The Spartans grab the final spot in the Power 25 after going 5-0 this past week, improving their record to 28-2. They took down Reed Custer 15-5, Tri Valley 9-2, Paxton Buckley 14-4, Tolono Unity 12-5 and Herscher 15-1.
