Knoxville Rising Stars ID: Positional Player Reports

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Prep Baseball Tennessee Knoxville Rising Stars ID was held on Sunday, March 24th at Knoxville Catholic HS in Knoxville, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of players from the 2028-2029 classes from Volunteer state. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at the scouting reports from the event. First, we will look at the scouting reports on all positional players who attedned the Knoxville Rising Stars ID.

Ethan Foster, Wise Central (VA), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Proportional build on the smiller side that should add plenty of mass with room to fill out.
Hit: LHH. Would produce one of the more impressive rounds of the day from an athletic wider stance with knees bent. With hands even with back shoulder at the back of the body. Small leg kick fully loads the backside and pushes the hands into an extended position. Rotates very well as the backside launches into the front leg, before finishing sitting on his back leg. Would take very aggressive swings throughout his round, looking to drive the ball in the air. Which he would do with an event best 316 ft max distance. Too aggressive at times with an upward bat park can get under balls and pop them up. Will develop more barrel control to produce line drives at a higher clip.
Arm: RH. INF-76 mph. Easy and longer pronated arm swing that stays connected to the body with loose actions.
Defense: Stong with the glove cornering around the baseball, while also covering ground to both sides of his body.
ATH: 7.91 runner in the 60. 7.91 in the30 yard split.

Bennett Goforth, Whitwell High School (TN), 2028
Positional Profile: 2B/RHP
Body: 5-8, 130-pounds. Proportional build with high waisted attributes and strong calves. Should continue to fill out as he matures.
Hit: RHH. Begins with a wider stance with his front foot slightly open. Hands are held higher above this right shoulder even height with his ear. Minimal weight shift rearward, as the bat tips up to a 90 degree angle launch position. Swing rotates around the center of the body into a balanced finish. Barrel has a tendency to drop resulting in lots of weak pop ups. Flatter bat path when barrel is not dropped which produces more consistent contact.
Arm: RH. INF-71 mph. Longer arm path that carried present arm speed across the diamond.
Defense: Early glove presentation with clean attributes when working to the baseball. Smooth transistions into his throw.
ATH: 8.02 runner in the 60. 8.02 in the30 yard split.

Fisher Green, Halls High School (TN), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds. Slim and proportional build that should continue to fill out as he matures.
Hit: LHH. One of (if not the) most well rounded physically 28s in the state had an impressive round of bp. Simple, even balanced setup pre pitch with his hands relaxed on his shoulder with bat tilted behind him. Shift into the backside brings hands down into a loaded position behind the body, before the back leg launches. Swing rotates on the backside using the front side for balance.
Stays through the zone very well. Spraying balls all across the field with hard contact. Advanced bat path for age that will play very well as he gets into high school.
Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. Short arm action from a narrow swing path that carried arm speed and athletic actions across the infield.
Defense: Moves with ease, while staying in the lower half of the body working through the baseball. Mobile legs that works well around the baseball with clean transistions into his throw.
ATH: 7.21 runner in the 60. 7.21 in the30 yard split.

Brayden Jones, Knox Halls (TN), 2028

Body: 5-9, 125-pounds. High leverage waist with a slim build that will add mass as he matures.
Hit: LHH. Very simple swing, feet behind a touch past shoulder width with an even stance. Hands begin with the bat laid on the shoulder relaxed. Small weight shift rearward activates the hands to 45 degrees pointed towards the pitcher. Swing launches off of the back leg with, and sinks into the backside with a braced front side. Works in the middle of the field with a slightly upward bat park, had solid contact through the round. Very good base swing as the body continues to develop and he adds strength and size.
Arm: RH. OF-75 mph. Developing arm strength with present life and carry to home.
Defense: Fundamental with clean fielding breakdown recieving the ball into his throw out in front.
ATH: 7.65 runner in the 60. 7.65 in the30 yard split.

Brendan Kutz, Farragut High School (TN), 2028
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-11, 163-pounds. Long and lean frame with some high-waistedness to the profile. Has put on significant weight since last summer and should continue to fill out as he matures.
Hit: LHH. Tall athletic stance, hands are held above rear shoulder with the bat tipped 45 degrees towards the pitcher. Small leg kick pushes the back knee loaded before the back leg launches forward. With a good combination of lateral and rotational strength. Body finished leaning back slightly with weight on the back knee. Aggressive to get the ball out front with the intent to drive it. Has a slightly upward bat path that matches the path of the ball well. Produced hard line drives from center to the right field line. Would take too big of a swing occasionally and drop the barrel. Advanced hitter and swing that will get much better
Arm: RH. C-67 mph. Short and quick arm action with present arm speed and strength.
Defense: 2.00-2.15 pop times. Worked well blocking balls in front of him with clean footwork and athletic actions working through the baseball. Clean and refined throwdowns to 2nd.

Swing launches off of the back leg and he shows the ability to sit into it throughout the swing well, as the front leg braces well. Varied path through the zone, depending on where the pitch is. Has a tougher time getting under high pitches. Mainly works to the pull side with solid barrels.
Arm: RH. INF-70 mph. Short and quick arm action.
Defense: Strong with the glove with early presentation. Smooth actions working through the baseball.
ATH: 7.82 runner in the 60. 7.82 in the30 yard split.

Zane Miller, Kings Academy (TN), 2029
Positional Profile: 1B/LHP

Toe tap has a small rearward move to load the backside before a small forward move. Hands resist forward move before a hitching action rearward before launching. Flat path overall through the zone that will occasionally get under a ball and elevate it.
Arm: RH. INF-73 mph. Over the top arm action from a higher slot with strength.
Defense: Moves well to both sides of his body with easy sinking of the hips without losing momentum. Stays well on his toes and works through the baseball well.
ATH: 7.65 runner in the 60. 7.65 in the30 yard split.

Ethan Ogle, Halls High School (TN), 2028
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-9, 160-pounds. Developed lower half that has some present muscle mass that should also continue to fill out as he matures.
Hit: RHH. Very wide setup with the feet, that is slightly closed with the front side. Favors the back side weight wise, and sits into the rear knee greatly. Hands start behind the back ear, also above the shoulder. Shifts weight completely onto the rear leg, as the front leg lifts onto the ball of the foot. Hands resist forward movement well with some stretch before launching. Finishes on the back leg with a tendency of the front leg to lift up on the end.
