Today we are releasing our weekly update to the Virginia/DC Power 25. Take a look at some new faces and some movement throughout the rankings.
- Although Paul VI lost this week, so did basically everyone else that has a current argument to be at the top.
- St. John's lost two, but they played some of the best teams and competition in the country, including national power Orange Lutheran (CA). They will stay behind PVI because their records are very similar and PVI owns the head to head.
- There was some other movement in the Top 10, with some teams trading some wins and losses with each other, but making one of the biggest jumps is Greenbrier Christian. GCA moves up six spots to #7 after two late inning wins versus Nansemond-Suffolk and Nansemond-River. The Gators have a big date with #8 Miller School next Saturday in Crozet.
- Great Bridge Wildcats move up to #10 after two 7-3 victories this week, including a win on Friday over previously ranked Hickory.
- Last thing to highlight are the four teams moving into the rankings. We held off on the Hanover Hawks long enough. The Hawks make their initial appearance at the #18 spot after a big victory over Atlee on Friday. They have only one loss on the season and that was to #1 PVI, a game in which they led big early, but could not hold the lead. Also moving in to the Power 25 is EC Glass, Matoaca, and Mountain View. Glass (8-0) had three convincing wins this past week, one of them a five run victory over previously undefeated Jefferson Forest.
