Game Notes: Bishop Gorman vs. Faith Lutheran

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

+ Chase Sorlie, 2024 RHP - The Uncommitted righthander has ascended to one of the, if not the, top Uncommitted arm in the state with the credibility of stacking wins against nationally ranked/recognized teams to go with an improved, mostly fastball/slider mix that routinely has sat in the upper 80's with seemingly more in the tank. The senior got the ball again, yesterday, in a rivalry matchup where he took control through his 5.0 innings pitched, allowing 0 earned runs while striking out 5 along the way. Keep an eye on Sorlie as an arm that we expect not only to be off the board soon, but as a key piece of the Crusader rotation with a deep playoff run in their sights.

+ Kingston Kela, 2026 IF (Texas A&M) - The Texas A&M commit continued his breakout sophomore campaign with another multi-hit day for the Crusaders, including a big leadoff double in the 5th inning that ignited a threatening inning. The advanced athleticism on both sides of the ball is obvious paired with his improved strength has taken his game to another level, hitting .413 this Spring with his power starting to shine through. Expect Kela to continue this hot Spring into the playoffs and into the Summer season where he will represent Nevada at the 2024 Prep Baseball ProCase.

+ Colton Boardman, 2024 IF (Cal State Northridge Signee) - Boardman has been the catalyst at the top of the Gaels order all Spring, hitting .361 on the year and added two more hits in yesterday's rivalry matchup, scoring twice as well to help tie the game up heading into the top of the 7th. The 2022 Future Games alum has ascended into the leadership role and will be a critical piece for Gorman heading into the home stretch of the Spring with key League games coming up.

+ Ryan Hunter, 2025 C/IF (Rice Commit) - Hunter has been one of the most consistent bats for the Gaels all Spring with a .351 Batting Average and a .443 On Base Percentage. The future Owl came up with the biggest hit of the game for the Gaels yesterday with a double over the centerfielders head to bring in Boardman and open up the scoring for Gorman. Hunter has been a Swiss Army Knife type player this Spring for the Gaels, working behind the plate, both corner infield positions and on the mound as well, all while continuing to find the barrel in big situations. He will be another bat in the heart of the Bishop Gorman lineup that will play a vital role in the coming weeks.

+ Chase Wilk, 2026 1B - The 2023 Future Games alum continued his hitting ways in yesterday's matchup with a pair of loud barrels, the first at-bat lining out to deep rightfield with nothing to show for and then shoots a line drive single to rightfield to keep the line moving in the bottom of the fourth where the Gael eventually crossed their first run of the game. The sophomore has steadily worked his way into the lineup and now in the hear to the order, hitting .314 on the year with his flashes of power starting to shine through as the home stretch of the 2024 High School season is now upon us.

+ Ace Hansen, 2025 OF/RHP - The 2023 Future Games standout and Faith Lutheran two-way has had his breakout junior season at the plate, now hitting .455 with two more hits added in yesterday's matchup, bringing in two critical runs as well to help propel the Crusaders to a 3-2 win over rival Bishop Gorman. The 6-foot-3, 185 pound two-way has all the tools and metrics you look for in a prospect and this Spring we are seeing it all come together for him as the Crusaders are primed for a deep playoff run this Spring.
