Indiana Player of the Week : Week #5

Our Player of the Week honors will be awarded each week of the high school season. High school coaches will be asked to submit their candidate for Player of the Week after the conclusion of each week, please send all submissions to [email protected] for consideration for this award.

Our Week #4 honors goes to Alex Schuler of Borden High School.


Alex Schuler SS / Borden High School, IN / 2024

Schuler is the state's home run leader (6 already) and continued to swing a hot bat during this past week. The IU-Southeast recruit went 9 for 15 (.600) on the week, totaling four doubles, two home runs, and ten (10) RBI.

 

 


Honorable Mentions

Reid Howard, SS/RHP, Forest Park, Senior

The Preseason 2A All-State selection makes this list for the second consecutive week after going 6 for 10 (.600) and helping 2A #2 Forest Park to a 2-1 week. The Western Kentucky commit also hit two home runs and a double, while driving in four.

Hogan Denny, C/RHP, Mooresville, Senior

One of the hottest bats in the state at the moment - Denny went 5 for 9 (.556) with two home runs, six RBI, and the Indiana recruit also earned a save in a scoreless inning of work on the mound. 

AJ Beggs, OF, Center Grove, Senior

Batting out of the cleanup spot for the top-ranked 4A team, Beggs went 7 for 12 (.583) with three doubles, a homer, and seven RBI. 

Luke Kruer, OF, Providence, Senior

Kruer showed off his power this week for 2A #6 Providence, clubbing three homers on the week. Kruer drove in twelve (12) runs, and scored eight on his own.

Austin Calvin, C, Ben Davis, Junior

Calvin went 7 for 15 (.467) on the week - collecting a double, two homers, and 8 RBI. Calvin helped the Giants to a 2-2 week, including a double-header sweep of Whiteland. 

Ashten Tuttle, INF, Dekalb, Junior

Tuttle helped the Barons to two wins this week. He went 10 for 14 (.714) with four doubles and 10 RBI.

Kaagen Kendall, LHP, Hagerstown, Junior

The junior southpaw was one walk away from a perfect game against Union County. Kendall tossed seven scoreless, allowing no hits and a walk, while punching out twelve (12).

Grayson Bradberry, RHP, Columbia City, Junior

One of the top uncommitted junior pitchers within the state of Indiana - Bradberry threw a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit, with thirteen (13) strikeouts in his start for Columbia City this week.

Gavin Jackson, 3B, Providence, Sophomore

Jackson has been on a tear to begin his sophomore campaign. The sophomore 3B went 6 for 14 (.429) with two doubles, two home runs, and 8 RBI this week for the 2A #6 Pioneers. 

Deklan Thompson, 3B/RHP, Mooresville, Senior

Thompson is a senior headed to play college baseball at Huntington University. An impact player for 4A #3 Mooresville, Thompson went 6 for 10 (.600) this week, collecting two doubles and four RBI. Thompson also earned a win on the mound, coming out of the bullpen in the first to throw seven innings.

Brendan Boynton, RHP/UTL, Lawrence North, Junior

Boynton helped Lawrence North to a 3-0 record this week. The uncommitted junior went 3 for 4 (.750) with two doubles, five runs scored, and he reached base at a .833 clip. Boynton also added a complete game shutout in his start on the mound, and he struck out ten (10). 

Rigg Mahurin, LHP/OF, New Palestine, Junior

The junior southpaw earned a complete game win against Greenfield-Central, striking out ten (10). Mahurin helped the Dragons to an undefeated week, also going 6 for 13 (.462) with four RBI.
