JUCO Uncommitted Spotlights: Jefferson College

With the NJCAA regular season winding down and postseason play starting to get underway, we take a look at a handful of name-to-know uncommitted players for Jefferson College.

Drew Politte

Sophomore RHP Drew Politte has been a reliable, go to starter on the mound for JeffCo. Politte has racked up 42 innings pitched on the year over 9 appearances, good for a 5-2 record. Additionally, the righty also is sporting a 3.86 ERA and 1.43 WHIP on the year with 39 strikeouts (third most on the team). Known for his competitiveness on the mound, Politte has ran his fastball up to 89 mph this spring while commanding a sweeper-like slider at 72-75 mph and a true swing-and-miss changeup with strong arm side fade.

Jack Shanahan

As physical as they come at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, Sophomore CIF Jack Shanahan is having a strong spring for the Vikings. Primarily hitting out of the 6-hole and manning first base, Shanahan is slashing .320/.446/.547 on the year with 24 hits in 75 at bats, 10 of those being of the extra base variety. Additionally, the righty has 16 RBI's on the year with 11 walks and 6 stolen bases. At our JeffCo Scout Day last fall, Shanahan impressed at the plate, recording the top exit velocity of the event at 101.1 mph while averaging 93.5 mph and sending his best barrel 358 feet. He also produced an 84.6% hard hit rate.
