Oklahoma Class of 2019: Updated Rankings

The PBR Oklahoma staff is constantly on the lookout for the top players in the state, and after an action-packed fall, 20 new players enter the 2019 rankings. This talented crop of players has continued to progress with many being featured prominently on the national stage. Though many of the top spots remain the same in the top 20, the spring season is just around the corner, and you can count on PBR Oklahoma to continue to track down the top players and provide the most information for Sooner State prospects.

Top 3

SS/RHP Bryce Osmond (Jenks HS) tops the list. The Oklahoma State recruit is arguably the best all around athlete in the class. It is easy to project him as a standout two-way player for the Cowboys. Osmond is on his way to becoming a true five-tool player, already with elite arm strength, above average speed (6.8 60), athletic and smooth defensive actions, and developing power with the ability to find barrel from a 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. Right now he fits the mold of a long SS, but if he continues to put on size and strength, Osmond could make the move to third at the next level. On the mound, the right-hander pitches in the upper 80s and touch 90 with a loose and easy arm action and flashes a slider with late depth. Osmond is a confident competitor that has put up big performances on big stages.

3B/RHP  Wade Elliott (Deer Creek HS) a Missouri recruit, fills the second spot. Elliott has a 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame packed with strength throughout. Defensively, Elliott shows supreme confidence, moves with excellent footwork and shows soft, reliable, elite hands. He projects as a third baseman, but is athletic enough for shortstop as well at the high school level. Offensively, the right-handed hitter displays excellent rhythm in the box with fast hands, strength (99 mph exit velo), and a knack for finding the barrel. Elliott continues to get more athletic, recently reported running a 6.91 60 and throwing 92 mph across the diamond.

RHP/UT Kale Davis (Westmoore HS), an Oklahoma State commit, is athletic enough to play multiple position at the high school level. However, his bright future is on the mound. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound right-hander features a fastball in the high 80s with a knee-buckling curveball that he can throw in most counts. Davis also mixes in a changeup that he throws with full arm speed. Proving at the end of the summer and into the fall that he has an advanced feel for the strike zone, Davis will likely be a front end arm for the cowboys if he ends up on campus.

The Risers
During the fall and winter, a number of prospects have shown they deserved to move up in the rankings. While many made a jump, a few in particular took their game to the next level.

Callen Golloway, SS, Blanchard HS
Always a good runner, 6.82 60, Golloway pushed himself up nearly 50 spots in the rankings with the addition of a great deal of strength. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound switch hitter shows exceptional pop from the right-side. Golloway put on a show during BP of the OK Fall Top Prospect Games, leaving the yard multiple times to the pull side.

Max Huffling, LHP/1B, Deer Creek HS
An impressive 6-foot-8, 235-pound frame, the left-handed pitching and right-handed hitting Huffling jumped 21 spots in the rankings with an increase in velo on the mound (85 mph) and juice at the plate (90 exit velo). Huffling is a definite prospect to watch as he continues to learn his body and advance his skills.

Jordan Coffey, C/1B, Deer Creek HS
A very strong 6-foot, 218-pound frame. Coffey jumped onto the scene last summer by showing his raw strength in BP, launching balls at the OK Summer Underclass Prospect Games, but he has rose another 15 spots in the rankings again thanks to the defensive he showed during the Fall Top Prospect Games where he proved he could get it done behind the dish.  

Notable Newcomers
Previously under the radar, a few players have popped up in a big way. Below are a few of the notables.

Bryce Crawford,RHP/OF, Dale HS
Crawford posses a 6-foot-2, 190-pound lean frame with quick twitch actions and some strength. The two-way athlete put up big numbers on both sides of the ball at the OK Fall Top Prospect Games and was even better at the OK Winter Showcase. Though still very raw with some more polishing to do, Crawfords athleticism (6.87 60) and arm strength (87 from OF and the mound) make him a prospect to keep tabs on this spring.

Hunter Wyrick, 3B, Atoka HS
A lean 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame, Wyrick still has plenty of room to add size and strength. At the OK Fall Top Prospect Games, the right-handed hitter found barrels with an 86 mph exit velo, ran a 6.95 60, and showed soft hands defensively.

Jacob Hill, OF/RHP, Shawnee HS
The 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitter jumps into the rankings after producing on of the best rounds of BP in the OK Fall Top Prospect Games, barreling almost every ball and showing some strength (87 mph exit velo).
