How Tuition Assistance Programs Can Benefit Baseball Programs and Families

The very first full article I was a part of for Recruiting Essentials was The Science of Scholarship ManagementIn this article, we took a detailed look at how college programs will use their NCAA allotment of 11.7 scholarships, spread out across 27 players on a Division I roster.  We also talked about the ability to utilize walk-ons to stretch the roster.  With 8 built in walk-on slots, programs have become very creative in the ways they allot their scholarship money to build a deep roster.

Today, our friends at D1Baseball.com came across an interesting decision from the administration at Rice University.  The University has made the decision that students that are accepted to Rice with a family income of $65,000 - $130,000 will receive free tuition.  Families making $130,001 - $200,000 can receive a 50% reduction on tuition.
