This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.
Standing 6-foot-4, Jonah Cohen is an RHP talent from Palos Verdes High School. Cohen is ranked as the twelfth best right handed pitcher in the state.
In his arsenal, Cohen boasts an 89 MPH fastball while featuring a pitch mix that includes a wipeout curveball and a sharp change-up.
This season for Palos Verdes, Cohen fanned 19 batters in just 9 innings, only allowing 1 run.
At the Future Games Tryout in Los Angeles, Cohen’s impressive display of talent on the mound earned him the rank as the seventh best overall prospect of the event.
Cohen’s fastball averaged the highest spin rate (2336 RPM) and the second fastest max velocity (89.3 MPH).
Cohen is most definitely a hurler to watch for at LakePoint. His sharp fastball, great pitch control, and large frame will be a threat for batters as well as a treat for scouts and fans in attendance.
“Cohen shows a very good present foundation, but with plenty of upside to polish/improve each pitch. He has been up to 89 by reports and you can easily see that he has an extra gear he can go to when he wants and eventually should be able to pitch at the next gear while building to a new top level gear.”- Steven Hardesty, Associate Director SoCal
