This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.
Standing 5-foot-11, Parker Leoff is a left-handed swinging, right handed throwing SS/2B from Huntington Beach High School. The second ranked shortstop in all of California is also ranked as the thirty-first best player in the country, skyrocketing the ranks after an impressive sophomore season.
Leoff played his sophomore season at Redondo Union. There, the righty absolutely mashed, earning him Second Team All-Area honors. Leoff hit to the tune of a .356 average and a 1.052 OPS. Leoff also showed off his power throughout the season, tallying nine extra base hits, three of which coming via the long ball.
In the field, Leoff flashed the glove with a .930 fielding percentage on 43 total chances.
Leoff also impressed on the base paths, swiping six bags on the year.
One of Leoff’s best games came against Carson on March 15th. On the day, Leoff went 3-4 with two home runs and four runs batted in.
At the Future Games Tryout, all of Leoff’s talents were on display. Leoff ran a 7.03 second 60-yard-dash, had a max exit velocity of 98 MPH off the bat, and played a smooth infield. With his performance, Leoff was ranked as the third best overall prospect to come out of the event.
Leoff’s well rounded set of tools makes him a must watch player when he takes the field in LakePoint. The MIF’s ability to be an extreme threat at the plate, run the bases well, and play sound defense is a huge asset to Team SoCal.
“Leoff has been one of the prototypical SoCal shortstops that has emerged in the 2027 class for good reason. He impressed for the Team USA 15u squad and has consistently shown a strong feel for the barrel within a smooth left-handed swing and clean fielding actions up the middle. It was more of the same of what we’ve seen from Leoff. He weighed in at 175.3 lbs, adding strength in season. The swing is on plane with a slight upward trajectory geared towards the gaps and immediately transferred into the gameplay. Leoff found the barrel right away and shot a hard ground ball into right field. He followed with two more swings in subsequent at-bats that generated hard contact. Leoff had a phenomenal year at Redondo Union, earning first-team all-league honors while hitting .351 with three home runs. ”- Matt Monk, Manager, Operations and Content
