West Coast Super Sophomore Games: California Outfielder Analysis

On September 26th, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the West Coast Super Sophomore Games at the University of Oregon and Bushnell University. This was an invite-only event for 2028 prospects, and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top prospects.

50 players made their way to Oregon and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball California staff.

Today, we’re looking at all of the outfielder’s scouting reports from the event:

OUTFIELDER ANALYSIS

Oliver Dauskurdas, Oaks Christian (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Two-way talent with standout athletic traits and emerging impact ability at the plate as a long-term OF prospect.
Body: 6-3, 195-pounds. Long-limbed, well-proportioned athlete with strength already present and plenty of physical ceiling remaining.
Hit: RHH. Works from a tall, slightly open setup with relaxed movement patterns and a smooth, efficient load. Creates strong rotational force with an aggressive lower half, allowing the barrel to work uphill and produce natural lift. The swing is geared for damage with consistent carry off the bat. 69.8 mph bat speed with 5g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 98 mph max exit velocity (85.6 avg.); 363-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. Long, loose arm stroke from an over-the-top slot, generating true carry with above-average arm speed.
Defense: Moves fluidly with controlled momentum, showing natural timing and comfort on approach.

Kylen Gravely, Santa Margarita Catholic High School (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/LHP Intriguing OF prospect with speed and two-way upside.
Body: 5-12, 165-pounds. Athletic build with room to fill. Projectable OF frame.
Hit: LHH. More weight preset on the back leg with hands set behind the ear and the knob pointed toward the catcher. Uses a toe-tap stride with tight turns in the box, producing efficient swings and consistent hard contact. 66.4 mph bat speed with 11g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 87 mph max exit velocity (80.4 avg.); 308-foot max batted distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 85 mph. Aggressive arm action with true carry to the bag. Works from an over-the-top slot with intent, pulling down through the finish after release.
Defense: Breaks down well when charging, fielding off the right foot before transitioning into a strong, full crow hop. Athletic enough to handle all three OF spots.

Kole (KJ) Henrich, Oaks Christian (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: C/OF High upside, line-drive oriented hitter with present strength and developing power.
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Athletic, well-proportioned frame with present strength and room for continued physical growth.
Hit: RHH. Starts open with a controlled leg lift that gathers into the back hip before moving forward. Shows a relaxed bat waggle and a vertical hand load that helps create quickness through the zone. Barrel works with some natural whip, producing steady line-drive contact to all fields. Showing signs of power to all fields with natural leverage in the swing. 71.9 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.

Leonardo Knapp-Schwarzenegger, Loyola (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/C Versatile player who shows development and upside, making noticeable strides on both sides of the ball.
Body: 5-11, 181-pounds. Present strength with athletism and room for further physical development.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, even stance with hands just below back shoulder. Short, controlled stride into launch with a smooth load and quick, direct bat path. Consistent line-drive contact with ability to spray to all fields. 66.2 mph bat speed with 10g of rotational acceleration.

Bryce Kurihara, Rio Americano High (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/LHP Switch-hitting two-way talent who shows smooth, fluid actions across all facets of his game.
Body: 5-8, 148-pounds. Compact frame, showing present athleticism and clear signs that more physical development is on the way.
Hit: SH. Shows a nearly identical move from both sides of the plate, operating with a smooth, balanced swing. Utilizes a subtle leg lift with the hands and lower half working in rhythm. Demonstrates the ability to drive the ball hard through the middle of the field with consistent contact. 70.6 mph bat speed with 13g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 mph max exit velocity (89.1 avg.); 359-foot max batted distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 84 mph. Fast, over-the-top arm action that keeps throws low and accurate to the target.

Trevor Newman, Rancho Cucamonga High (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Athletic, lean-bodied outfielder with physical projection that should bring strides to overall game.
Body: 6-3, 183-pounds. Long, slender build with athletic movement patterns and clear room to add strength.
Hit: RHH. Starts in a wide, upright stance with weight stacked slightly onto the back leg. The hands sit high near the back shoulder with a lifted elbow and steady barrel activity. Loads by sinking into the backside and uses a toe-tap trigger to get on time. Swings on a longer, upward plane built to drive the ball in the air. High one hand finish. 60.5 mph bat speed with 8g of rotational acceleration.

Jameson Pierce, Arrowhead Christian (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Two-way athlete with strength and competitiveness on the mound a swing built for steady line-drive production.
Body: 5-8, 187-pounds. Compact, strong frame with solid muscle development. Lower half strength is trending upward, aiding both power and overall stability.
Hit: LHH. Begins from a relaxed, slightly open posture with weight leaning toward the back side. Hands sit comfortably above shoulder height before working into a deeper stretch during the load. Uses a controlled leg lift to sync the upper and lower half. Creates a tight, direct path to the ball with a swing geared toward firm contact to the pull side and middle. Shows feel for keeping the barrel on plane for a long time. 57.8 mph bat speed with 20 G’s of rotational acceleration. 61.2 mph bat speed with 24g of rotational acceleration.

Defense: Controlled mover who keeps his body under control through the play. Takes measured routes, fields the ball with steady tempo, and transitions cleanly into his throwing motion.

Wyatt Richardson, St. Bonaventure (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/SS Up-the-middle profile with the athleticism to move between the INF dirt and CF, paired with a bat that shows an intriguing offensive ceiling as the toolset continues to develop.
Body: 5-8, 136-pounds. Quick-twitch athlete with a light frame and plenty of room to add strength as he matures.
Hit: RHH. Sets up with a calm, balanced base and weight favoring the back side. Utilizes a controlled leg lift to initiate the move forward, creating rhythm before landing firmly on the front foot. Hands work quickly through the zone with developing bat speed, showing feel for the barrel and projection for added impact as strength comes. 64.1 mph bat speed with 6g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 mph max exit velocity (73.5 avg.); 265-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. Strong, aggressive arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Maintains balance through the throw and keeps the ball on a low, firm line with carry.
Defense: Athletic defender with lively feet and natural range. Plays with pace and confidence, showing quick reactions and the ability to cover ground efficiently while staying under control.

Mason Ritchey, Garces Memorial High School (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Two-way athlete with developing strength and pitchability.
Body: 5-10, 159-pounds. Lean, athletic frame with wiry strength and plenty of physical growth ahead.
Hit: RHH. Begins from a medium-width stance with slight flexion in the knees and a forward-leaning posture from the hips. Barrel rests flat behind the head while the hands sit high near the ear. Uses a subtle hover move to settle into the back leg before initiating a smooth forward move. Lower half fires with intent, generating rotation through the hips and allowing the hands to work short and direct. Creates leverage out front with a slight upward finish. 66.2 mph bat speed with 8g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 mph max exit velocity (79.9 avg.); 288-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 87 mph. Medium arm circle with noticeable quickness. Accurate with modest carry.

Jason Taylor, Notre Dame High School (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Athletic OF who contributes on both sides of the ball, showing intriguing two-way upside with a playable arm and developing feel on the mound.
Body: 5-10, 158-pounds. Projectable body with good proportions and clear room for added strength as he continues to mature physically.
Hit: RHH. Sets up with a wide, stable base that allows him to stay grounded through the swing. Barrel starts relaxed on the back shoulder before a controlled, short leg lift gets him into his load. Tends to work more with the upper half, allowing the hands to work free through the zone. Swing is geared toward hard line-drive contact 67.2 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.

Arm: RH. OF - 89 mph. Longer arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Ball jumps out of the hand with clean carry and a true flight path
Defense: Approaches the ball with controlled, efficient strides and shows improving rhythm into the crow hop. Transfers continue to trend forward, allowing him to get into throws quicker while maintaining balance and accuracy.

Zach Uhler, Granite Bay High (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/2B Physical OF who brings a reliable, present hit tool to the plate, showing the ability to consistently square the baseball with strength in the swing.
Body: 5-8, 176-pounds. Strong, well-built frame with a sturdy base and additional physical growth still ahead.
Hit: RHH. Sets up with a wide base and pronounced hand load, keeping the hands low and extended away from the body. Uses a toe-tap for timing before firing a heavy barrel through the zone, showing all-fields contact with present pull-side power. 74.2 mph bat speed with 17g of rotational acceleration.

Walter Unruh, Kingsburg High (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: OF Strong corner OF with tools that project well offensively.
Body: 6-2, 178-pounds. Long limbs, with some athleticism and projectability in the frame. Expected to develop as the body matures over time.
Hit: RHH. Sets up balanced with a wide base and flexed knees. Hands start near the rear shoulder and remain quiet through a short leg-lift stride. Weight loads into the back side while the hands cast slightly outward. Uses a smooth hip rotation to drive the swing with a long, fluid barrel path. 68.5 mph bat speed with 10g of rotational acceleration.
