Prep Baseball Texas Staff

On Sunday, September 14th, the PB Texas staff traveled to the Univeristy of Houston, to host a Scout Day with the Banditos & Elite RBI.

2028 & 2029 grads participated in a pro-style workout, followed by a scrimmage gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis, highlighting the event's top statistical performers. Today, we will provide scouting analysis on some of the standouts from the event.

QUICK HITS

Cooper Knight | LHP/OF/1B | Buda Johnson | 2029 | 6’2” 180
Two-way player with the ability to impact the game on both sides. On the mound, sits 86-88 with little effort. Athletic arm with a fluid delivery and good movement patterns. Commands three pitches—fastball and changeup both show arm-side run, while curveball spins at 2200+ rpm with depth at 73-75. At the plate, shows advanced bat-to-ball skills and the ability to turn the barrel from the left side, posting a 97.5 exit velo. Average runner, but moves well in the outfield and at first base. High-upside player to follow closely over the next four years.

Peyton Lopez | SS | New Caney | 2029
One of the top infielders in his class. Already throwing 84 mph across the diamond with smooth footwork, athletic angles, and the ability to throw from multiple slots. Athletic mover with all the actions to stick at shortstop. Offensively, shows compact movements, easy rhythm, and quick bat speed. High-level feel for the game and projects as a true two-way threat with the glove and bat.

Tennyson Vest | SS | Northside Falcons (Homeschool) | 2028
Wiry, athletic frame with room to grow. Displays solid infield actions with a short arm stroke and developing arm strength. Offensively, has sneaky juice with some length to the swing at times but maintains rhythm and bat speed. Showcased gap-to-gap ability with two triples, one to each alley, proving his ability to drive the ball with carry.

Kinkade Vest | SS | Northside Falcons (Homeschool) | 2029 | 6’1” 185
Strong, physical build still developing into his frame. Profiles more as a third baseman long term but has the mobility and arm strength to handle the left side. Quick hands from the left side of the plate with present power and room for more. Plays with energy and competes hard. High-upside player who will be an exciting follow as his body and tools continue to mature.

Caleb Kahoalii | RHP | Cypress Woods | 2029
Polished right-hander with a full arm path and high-¾ slot. Direction and timing are advanced for his age, allowing him to command the zone. Fastball sat 86-88 with backspin and ride at the top of the zone. Changeup is his best pitch, showing plus movement (20+ inches horizontal). Also spins a slider and curveball with quality action and developing depth. High-upside arm with present stuff and projection.

Ty Chambless | C | Nederland | 2029
Stocky catcher with soft hands and a solid arm. Posted a 2.01 pop time with clean, efficient footwork. Defensively steady with strength as an asset. At the plate, shows balance in the swing with quick hands and advanced bat-to-ball skills. Solid all-around backstop with room to grow offensively and physically.

Caleb Klein | OF | Glenn | 2029
Athletic player still refining his game. Strong build and ran a 6.8 60, showing the ability to cover ground in the outfield. Compact arm path with arm strength, reaching 84 mph on throws. Offensively, shows raw power but can get stiff at times. With continued development, has the chance to become a high-level outfielder with speed, arm, and power potential.

Santiago Navarro | C/RHP | Cypress Christian School | 2028
Biggest tool is his arm strength. Behind the plate, shows 1.94–2.09 pop times with carry. Feet and hands are still developing, but the arm stands out. On the mound, sat 85-86 with a breaking ball that spun correctly and showed promise. A raw but exciting two-way prospect with upside as a low-mileage arm and strong defensive catcher.

Cote Tullos | LHP | Hendrickson | 2029 | 5’8” 188
Compact left-hander with a three-pitch mix and strong command. Fastball sat 78-80 with heavy arm-side run and fade. Changeup mirrors the fastball with similar action. Curveball adds depth to the mix. Strike thrower with natural movement that makes him tough to barrel. Projects as a deceptive lefty with a lot of pitchability.
