Mizuno Pitcher & Hitter of the Week (Week 7)

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state

Thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.  

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 7 (Mar 31-Apr 6).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gavin Barker SS / OF / Reedy, TX / 2025

The University of Texas - Dallas recruit was unstoppable at the plate in Week 7, turning in a perfect 6-for-6 performance that fueled his team’s offense. He racked up 3 doubles, scored 7 runs, and drove in 7, showcasing the ability to hit with RISP. Barker also showed patience and speed, drawing 2 walks and swiping 2 bases. A complete all-around performance that highlighted his ability to impact the game on offense.

 

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Sean Howell RHP / Rockport-Fulton, TX / 2025

The Texas A&M Kingsville recruit delivered a dominant Week 7, showcasing his elite command and strikeout power across two appearances. Against Port Lavaca Calhoun on Tuesday, Howell came in to shut the door, going 2 shutout innings and 3 strikeouts, while earning a save. He followed that up with a great outing versus Ingleside on Friday, tossing 6.2 innings and racking up17 strikeouts. In total, Howell finished the week with 8.2 innings pitched, 20 strikeouts, 1 win, and 1 save.
