Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.

Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 6 Player of the Week

Jace Duckett OF / LHP / Madison County, AL / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 14 / POS: 1 OF/LHP Jace Duckett has been named the Mizuno Player of the Week after an outstanding performance at the plate, going 7-for-9 (.778) with two home runs, a triple, a double, nine RBIs, six runs scored, four walks, and two stolen bases. A top-15 prospect in Alabama’s 2027 class, Duckett played a pivotal role in leading Madison County to a perfect 3-0 week, improving their record to 14-4 in Class 4A. Also known for his low-80s fastball as a LHP, Duckett continues to show one of the higher two-way upsides in the sophomore class in Alabama.
