Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.

Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 7 Player of the Week

Sam Brown 3B / Central-Phenix City, AL / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 29 / POS: 3 3B Sam Brown has been named the Mizuno Player of the Week after an explosive offensive performance, going 11-for-14 (.785) with three home runs, five doubles, 10 RBIs, six runs scored, and four walks during a three-game sweep of arch-rival Auburn High School to open area play. Widely regarded as one of the top left-handed hitters in Alabama’s 2025 class, the Gulf Coast State CC now has 11 home runs on the season. His dominant week helped lead Central-Phenix City to a 4-0 record, improving to 25-7 overall and earning a No. 5 ranking in the Class 7A state poll.
