The Prep Baseball Louisiana High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a Louisiana high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please email Alex Armand at [email protected]

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wedensday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

2027 RHP/INF Barrett Coody (Rosepine HS)

-Walks: 1

The uncommitted sophomore first turned heads at our Lake Charles Preseason ID back in January, showcasing eye-popping triple-digit exit velocities at the plate. But this spring, he’s proven he’s just as dangerous on the mound.

Last Friday, Coody delivered his most dominant outing of the season in a district matchup against Vinton. The right-hander fired a complete-game, seven-inning no-hitter, allowing just one walk while striking out 14 to power Rosepine to a 9-0 victory.

He didn’t just shine on the bump, either. At the plate, Coody stayed hot, going 4-for-8 (.500) across four games with 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 1 run scored, 3 walks, and a stolen base.

It was a complete two-way performance from one of the top 2027s in the state.
