Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 8 of the 2025 spring season. 

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ethan Barnes C / SS / Magnolia Heights, MS / 2025 The 2 time Future Gamer and Liberty University signee had an outstanding week for the Chiefs. Barnes went 7 for 9 with 2 home runs, 4 doubles, and 11 runs batted in. Barnes is hitting .426 on the season with 3 home runs, 12 doubles, and 31 RBI's.

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jon Grey Morrisson 3B / RHP / WEST UNION ATTENDANCE CENTER, MS / 2026 The former Future Gamer was dominant last week throwing a 7 inning no hitter over Smithville. The 6-6 uncommitted righty walked just one hitter while striking out 13! Morrisson is 2-1 on the season with a 2.88 ERA including 37 strikeouts in just 24 innings.
