April 23, 2025
The 2025 New Jersey Preseason All-State: Underclass event was littered with top-end talent from around the state. The Prep Baseball New Jersey staff had a prime opportunity to see these prospects just ahead of another highly anticipated high school campaign.
CLICK HERE to view all of the metrics collected at this invite-only event; below, we're highlighting some of the top overall performers from the showcase.
Top Infield Performances
+ SS Cayden Yoon (Old Tappan, 2027) - another guy who gets better and better each time we get a chance to see him. He’s gotten stronger and his metrics certainly play. Ran a 7.06 60-yard dash and threw 87 mph across the infield. At the plate, Yoon peaked at 89 mph EV while averaging 73 mph bat speed.
+ SS Jackson Soos (Wall, 2028) - Soos emerged as a guy to watch at last year’s Intensity Scout Day as one of the top prospects from that event. Being one of the youngest players at the Preseason All State did not stop Soos from standing out. Level, explosive bat path with some juice at the plate, up to 95 mph EV with hand and bat speed. In the field showcases some bounce to his step and advanced, quick glovework with a loose arm across the INF from SS at 83 mph. Expect his metrics to continue to improve as he gets stronger.
+ 1B Tanner Koss (Delbarton, 2027) - Big bodied left handed hitter at 6-foot-3 245-pounds. Prototypical power hitter first baseman. Loud contact in his round of BP, got up to 95 mph EV with a 350’ max distance. Flashed bat speed and was 83 mph across the infield.
+ 3B Anthony Huaranga (St. Peter’s Prep, 2028) - the current No. 1 overall 2028 in NJ, Huaranga is as polished of a prospect as they come as a freshman. He checks all the boxes - physicality and tools at his current age. Expect Huaranga’s hit tool to continue to evolve as he matures. At PAS, threw 83 mph across the INF, was up to 93 mph EV in his round of BP as well as a max distance of 360 '+ with some bat speed.
+ 1B Sam Stalb (Pascack Valley, 2027) - Stalb was a guy who stood out at last summer’s Teels Ravens Scout Day after a stellar performance in his freshman campaign for Pascack Valley. Physically gifted at 6-foot-5 205-pounds, Stalb fills the batters box with some presence. The future might be on the mound, however, as he showcases a clean, athletic arm stroke. Flashed a 90 mph max EV
+ SS Grayson Langsdorf (Morristown, 2028) - Wiry, athletic at 6-foot-1 170-pounds. Left handed hitter with a smooth, easy stroke. Shows some quick twitch in the infield as well. Ran a 7.26 60-yard dash and got up to 95 mph EV with intriguing bat and hand speed.
+ 3B Evan Meyer (Brick Memorial, 2027) - Athletic frame at 5-foot-8 170-pounds. Elite mover and a good forward move at the plate as the pitch arrives. He loads well and stays balanced throughout the finish, getting up to 95 mph EV with a peak distance of 352’ Loose arm in the infield, some bounce to step, throw 80 mph across the diamond.
+ SS Zachary Broderson (Mount Olive, 2027) - Super Sophomore Games alum and possesses some quick twitch attributes. Still needs to add some strength but the foundation is there. Showed a 86 mph EV at this event but should see this number rise in the near future.
+ SS Robert Wrobel (Ranney, 2027) - another Super Sophomore Games alum. We really liked the repeatability of Wrobel’s bat path and the barrel whip on the finish. Stayed on plane throughout the round. Calm, composed in the box and knack for finding the barrel. Touched 94 mph EV hitting balls hard and line drives throughout.
+ SS Darien Quiceno (Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 2028) - Quiceno was among the top performers out of the 2028 group at this event. Still adding muscle to his wiry, 5-foot-11, 150-lb. athletic frame, but Quiceno really impressed during his round of BP and his advanced motor in the field.
+ 1B Luke Palermo (St. Joseph’s Metuchen, 2027) - Palermo really impressed with his round of batting practice and was arguably the best round from the event. Quick, explosive stroke from the left side. Was on the barrel throughout reaching 95 mph EV and a max distance of 365’. Palermo had a clean round on the infield, throwing 86 mph across.
+ 3B Patrick Bendert (Cranford, 2027) - Bendert is a name to follow as we head into the spring and summer circuits. Strong, broad shouldered 6-foot-1, 195-pounds - wide, crouched setup with some juice. Had some bounce in the infield but really liked his bat to ball skills presently. Had one of the top EVs from the event reaching up to 98 mph and a max distance of 365’ while flashing impressive bat and hand speed throughout the round.
+ 3B Matthew Gryskiewicz (Eastern Regional, 2027) - another guy whose physicality was off the charts at this event. 6-foot-2, 200-pounds and punished baseballs to the back part of the facility at 100 mph and 381’. Also had an impressive bat speed, averaging 78.6. Stood out at other events in the winter, too, including the Ascent Scout Day with Prep Baseball PA where he truly burst on to the scene. Gryskiewicz can throw some innings as well, but primarily is a true corner INF power hitter.
