The Prep Baseball Virginia/DC staff makes their way across the Commonwealth and DC throughout the spring to assist high school players in gathering evaluations, including video and some data, that allow our staff to assist in the potential recruitment of student-athletes.
Take a look at a few games and players that stood out over the past few weeks of play.

Andrew Cullinan RHP / 1B / Charlottesville High School, VA / 2025Cullinan was filling up the box score in this contest. He was the only member of his team to have a multi-hit night, as well as getting the win on the mound. The Delaware Valley College commit has a slow-paced delivery with a compact arm action. In this matchup, he went six innings striking out eight and only allowing two runs. Offensively, he had two singles that helped jump-start the offense for the Black Knights.

Colonial Heights
|
Tony Nguyen OF / RHP / COLONIAL HEIGHTS HIGH, VA / 2026The Colonial Heights leadoff hitter has had a great start to the season. He has a compact frame with a slightly crouched stance, along with a simple load and stride. Nguyen had two huge runs batted in on a single up the middle that gave his team the lead and helped secure the 3-2 win. Through nine games on the season, according to the team's scorebook, he is batting just under .500, with an on-base percentage just under .600.

Camdyn Via 3B / RHP / Fluvanna County High School, VA / 2025Via has a physical build and is an offensive difference maker in the middle of Fluvanna's lineup. He has a balanced setup with some rhythm in his hands and a leg kick stride. In this game, he had a backside double that came off the bat with high exit velocity. Although his team was not able to get the win, Via did all that he could offensively and on the mound as well.

Brian Moore Jr 1B / LHP / Hopewell Highschool, VA / 2026The Hopewell first baseman has an athletic frame with strength present. He is an imposing presence in the box with a very quick bat through the zone. He got the scoring started in this one by sending a rocket home run off the top of the scoreboard in right field.

Conner Hedgepeth RHP / 2B / POWHATAN HIGH, VA / 2025I've seen Hedgepeth throw solid outings in person a handful of times, but this was definitely the best I attended. The University of Charleston (WV) commit pitched with loads of confidence, effectively mixing four pitches, with his best feel clearly being the fastball and curveball. His fastball was working both sides of the plate up to 91 mph, leaving opposing hitters wanting no part of it. While the fastball was impressive, I was more intrigued with the shape of his curveball and his ability to locate it in the zone throughout his four innings of work.

Grayson Palmore C / 1B / POWHATAN HIGH, VA / 2025The Hampden-Sydney commit had a standout performance at the plate. He had a hit in all three at-bats, including a solo blast to center field. His setup is balanced and quiet, featuring a simple load and stride with a short bat path through the zone.

Spotswood
![]() |
Camden Blank SS / 2B / Spotswood, VA / 2026An energy-giving leader who impacts the game offensively and defensively nearly every time I see him play. In the box, the setup is athletic and balanced, with a slight leg kick stride and a short, quick bat through the zone. Offensively in this game, he was a problem for the opposition, picking up a triple, three walks and a stolen base. Making all of his plays at shortstop, he makes it look easy, with advanced hands and smooth, athletic footwork.

Brady Hoover RHP / 3B / Spotswood , VA / 2025

|
Carter Lenz RHP / OF / SPOTSWOOD HIGH, VA / 2025The Spotswood right-hander had himself a big night on the mound. Lenz has a slow-paced, in-control delivery with a shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Over the course of his five innings of work, he was collecting countless swing and misses with his fastball, which sat 87-90 mph and held that velocity throughout the outing. As the night went on, he worked in a cutter/slider shaped pitch that kept the opposition guessing. Tossing five innings, contributing to a combined no-hitter and striking out ten, this was one of the more dominant performances I have seen from a pitcher this high school season.

Varina
|
Mekhi Bullock SS / 2B / VARINA HIGH, VA / 2026Bullock has an athletic frame and is a consistent impact player in the top half of the Varina lineup. At the plate, he features a quiet, balanced setup with a toe-tap stride. The barrel is slightly uphill and quick with solid bat-to-ball skills. In the game that I attended, he showcased the ability to stay back on an off-speed pitch and send it into left field for a single.
