LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting a Hitter and Pitcher of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from around California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches who are deserving of recognition but were not named Hitter/Pitcher of the Week.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

2025 SS/RHP Wyatt Prieto of Clovis North High School has been named the California Hitter of the Week after helping lead the Broncos to a series sweep and to within one game of the league lead in the uber competitive TRAC.

Prieto, a Cal State Northridge commit, had three consecutive multi-hit games in the Broncos league sweep that included a series clinching walk-off home run in the finale. The former Future Gamer was 2-for-3, 3-for-4, and 3-for-4 that included four RBI, five runs scored, a stolen base and a walk. With the Broncos down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, they got a pair of singles that sandwiched a strikeout. With one out and runners on first and second, Prieto took the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for the series clinching walk-off home run, setting up a huge series this week. 

Prieto has had a very strong season for the Broncos, leading the offense from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Currently hitting .500 on the season, Prieto has 25 hits, 15 run scored, and 19 RBI. Prieto is also having an impact on the Broncos pitching rotation where he’s the No. 2 starter.
