Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings

Illinois Scouting Staff

Another week of IHSA action is in the books as we hit the refresh button on the Power 25. We have a new No. 1 with Brother Rice taking over the top spot, and there's also two more new teams in the top-five with Minooka and Triad sliding in. There was quite a bit of movement in this one with a good amount of teams rising slightly and vice versa, including two new faces with York and Prairie Ridge making their debuts.

Continue reading below for the entire rankings update.

FALLING

+ No. 6 Lincoln-Way West (11-3): The Warriors went 0-3 this past week and bounced from No. 1 to No. 6. They fell to now No. 7 Lincoln-Way East 8-7, as well as No. 4 Minooka 7-0. Their final loss came against Homewood-Flossmoor by the score of 4-3. We still very much like the Warriors and their club, so we’ll see how they bounce back from this hiccup.

+ No. 8 Nazareth (16-2): The Roadrunners are falling three spots after a 2-2 week, splitting with Marist (W: 6-0, L: 7-2) and Carmel Catholic (W: 12-6, L: 15-7). They will continue conference play this week with matchups against Marian Catholic and Saint Viator.

+ No. 10 Providence Catholic (10-5): The Celtics are down to No. 10 in the state after a 3-2 week. They saw wins over Oswego East 7-0, Hanover Central 14-3 and Loyola Academy 8-6 - but also fell to Kentucky’s No. 5 team Ballard 5-2 and Loyola Academy 16-3.

+ No. 18 DeKalb (13-2-1): The Barbs find themselves down to No. 18 after a 2-1 week. They took two of three against Naperville North, winning 5-1 & 11-1, but they also fell to them 10-0.

+ No. 19 New Trier (12-4-1): The Trevians are down eight spots to No. 19 after a 2-2 week. They took down Barrington 5-2 and Glenbrook North 12-1 - but also fell to Glenbrook North twice to lose the series (9-6 & 4-2).

+ No. 24 Hampshire (14-4): The Whip-Purs went 0-3 on the week and moved from No. 9 to No. 24 - falling to No. 23 Prairie Ridge 8-1, No. 3 McHenry 11-10 and Jacobs 2-1.

+ No. 25 DePaul College Prep (16-2): The Rams hang onto the last spot in the Power 25 after a 2-2 week, taking down Chicago Hope 3-2 and De La Salle 2-0 - but falling to now No. 1 Brother Rice 9-3 and 18-2.

NEW TO THE POWER 25

+ No. 22 York (12-1): The Dukes slide in at No. 22 after a 2-0 week, now sitting at 12-1 on the year. It’s hard to not like a team that has made it to state the last two years, and they seem to be picking up right where they left off. Their two wins came against Hinsdale Central by the scores of 14-2 and 11-8.

+ No. 23 Prairie Ridge (14-3-1): The Wolves jump in at No. 23 after a 3-0 week. They took down Crystal Lake South 12-9, No. 9 at the time Hampshire 8-1 and Johnsburg 12-2.
