TX Rising Stars Games: Quick Hits
April 21, 2025
TEXAS -On April 19th, the Prep Baseball Texas staff traveled to Prestonwood Chrsitian Academy in Plano, TX to host the Texas Rising Stars Games. This event featured 2029 & 2030 prospects from throughout the state. All participants went through a workout where they ran the 60, threw from defensive positions, and hit BP. Following the workout, pitchers got to face hitters live in-game, where we saw plenty of action. Overall, it was a great day getting to see some of the next wave of ballplayers in the state.

Graham Toogood OF / RHP / Lubobck, TX / 2029Graham Toogood, a 2029 OF/RHP from Lubbock, continues to get better every time out. On Saturday, he posted the highest exit velocity at the event, hitting 93+, and followed it up with 3 hits, consistently impacting the baseball. He has a frame that will only get better as he matures physically. Right now, he runs in the 7.2 range, but that will improve as he develops into an above-average runner. On the mound, Toogood touched 81 mph, showing good arm strength. He’s a guy who’s only going to continue improving and will be one to watch.

Tannyn Polk LHP / OF / Burkburnett, TX / 2029Tannyn Polk, a 2029 LHP/OF from Burkburnett, was one of the arms I got most excited about on Saturday. The left-handed pitcher has a projectable frame and shows a lot of potential. He’s got a repeatable arm swing, and his delivery is clean. Polk sat in the upper 70’s, but he’s going to throw much harder as he develops. He also showed a solid breaking ball for his age, with the right shape, and as it gains more power, it has the potential to be a really good pitch. There’s a lot to dream on with Tannyn, and he’s definitely one to follow as he continues to grow.

Heston Horn LHP / OF / Mount Pleasant, TX / 2029Heston Horn, a 2029 LHP/OF/1B from Mount Pleasant, is a fun player to watch. This is the second time we've seen him, and he's a confident kid who does everything well on the field. On the mound, Horn shows a solid arsenal with a fastball up to 80 mph and a changeup he throws with the same arm speed. He also shows feel for spin, and while he needs to get stronger to add power to his pitches, he has a good foundation. At the plate, Horn is a switch hitter with a short, compact swing from both sides. He’s a line drive hitter who stays in the big part of the field. Horn does a lot of things well, and as he matures, it’ll be exciting to see where he starts to excel.

His curveball ranged from 69.5-71 mph, with a spin rate of 2,270 rpm, while his changeup sat between 72.7-74.1 mph. Martinez has feel for all three pitches and the metrics reflect his potential. At 5'11" and 125 pounds, he has a projectable frame, and it’s easy to envision him throwing much harder as he matures. Kade Flowers / Rockwall, TX / 2029Kade Flowers, a 2029 player for Rockwall Heath, has a good frame and showed well playing all over the field. He possesses real bat speed, and with his current strength, he has the potential to really impact the baseball early in high school. His arm strength was evident in the field, and his versatility allows him to play multiple positions. Flowers also pitches, and I’m excited to see him on the mound in the future. He’s a baseball player with natural traits, and Coach Harvey is getting a good one.

Robbie Adam 1B / OF / Kinkaid, TX / 2029Robbie Adam, a 2029 1B/OF from Kinkaid, is a great athlete for his size, standing at 6'1" and weighing 225 pounds. He can really run once he gets going and showed some big juice during batting practice. At first base, he’s solid around the bag with room to improve. On the mound, he struggled with the zone but showcased velocity, topping out at 80 mph from the left side. A Houston product, Adam has some loud tools to be excited about as he enters high school, and he’s definitely a player to keep an eye on.

Mason Berry SS / RHP / Mansfield Lake Ridge, TX / 2029Mason Berry, a 2029 SS/RHP from Mansfield Lake Ridge, is an impressive athlete with a 7.11 60-yard time, the best of the day, and that speed shows up in games. He plays fast and seems to be a step ahead of others. While he’ll need to work on gearing down, his natural instincts and speed make him fun to watch. He has plus bat speed, and though his barrel can get vertical at times, he has a high-floor hit tool. Berry’s ability to play up the middle long-term is evident, and he also took the mound, showcasing a fastball that peaked at 80 mph, with solid secondary offerings. His breaking ball and slider both show potential and will improve as he continues to develop. He’s a player to watch moving forward.

Kaden Canady SS / OF / Gilmer, TX / 2030Kaden Canady, a 2030 SS/OF from Bruce J.H., had an impressive performance on Saturday, more than holding his own against older competition. He ran a 7.07 60-yard dash, showcasing his speed at a young age. Canady can really swing it from both sides of the plate, and he's already a top-of-the-order bat. He performed well in game situations and proved he’s an up-the-middle player. Although he still has time before reaching high school, Canady has definitely caught our attention with his athleticism, ability to impact the game, and versatility.
