Myers Park Hosts Pinecrest in a Thriller

Myers Park Walks Off Pinecrest in Extra Innings, 4-3
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Myers Park pulled off a thrilling walk-off win in the 8th inning, defeating Pinecrest 4-3 in a non-conference matchup on Friday night. Henry Bauer was stellar in relief, earning the win after 4.1 innings of work, allowing just one run on four hits.
The Mustangs struck first, scoring two runs in the third off Pinecrest starter Taylor Graves. Gray Anderson, William Jordak, and William Washburn strung together three straight singles to push across both runs.
Pinecrest responded in the fourth, as Eythan Reynolds laced a two-out double to drive in David Wiley and Mitch Baek, tying the game at 2-2. Myers Park regained the lead in the fifth, but Pinecrest forced extra innings in the seventh, when Rhett Besterman stole second and scored on a JC Woolard single to make it 3-3.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Evan Howard singled, advanced on a hit-by-pitch and a walk, then came around to score on a bang-bang infield single from Thomas Jokinen, sealing the victory for Myers Park.
