Cason Borchardt

Horace (ND)

OF/LHP

Cason Borchardt is a 6-foot-3 sophomore with the kind of two-way skill set that makes you think bigger things are coming. On the mound, the lefty shows an easy delivery and a fastball at 83–86 mph, topping at 86.4 at the Future Games, that’s only scratching the surface, paired with a curve, slider, and developing change. At the plate, he’s a left-handed bat with real athleticism, already flashing a 97.5 mph exit velocity and 348-foot power. An 89 mph arm in the outfield and a 7.06 sixty round out a profile built on projection. He’s not there yet—but the tools are loud enough to make you believe.

2 Caden Nelson Fargo South (ND) RHP

Caden Nelson is the kind of arm you circle early. At 6-foot-2, 177, he’s got projection written all over him. The fastball already sits 89–92 with life, the slider bites in the mid-70s, and the changeup shows separation. Add in athleticism—6.93 speed, quick-twitch actions—and you’ve got a two-way talent with real upside.

3 Kade Wede Harrisburg (SD)   RHP/3B

Kade Wede brings polish and projection in equal measure. The 6-foot righty works with a smooth, whippy arm from a three-quarters slot, running his fastball up to 90. He pairs it with a shapely curve, a fading changeup, and a firm cutter — four distinct looks, all built on clean mechanics and arm speed. It’s the kind of mix that makes him one of the more intriguing young arms in the class.

4 Jack Tooke Mandan (ND) RHP
Jack Tooke looks the part of a real two-way threat. At 6-foot-1, 182 pounds, he’s already sturdy with projection ahead. On the mound, he sits 84–85 with a compact over-the-top delivery and a slider in the mid-70s that shows bite. At the plate, the left-handed swing is flat and geared for line drives, with flashes of power—97.5 mph max exit velo, 353-foot top end. Add in 90 mph across the infield and clean actions at shortstop, and Tooke emerges as one of North Dakota’s must-follow names in the 2027 class.

5 Everett Salonen Sioux Falls Jefferson (SD) RHP
Everett Salonen, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound right-hander from Jefferson (SD), has the physical body scouts love and pitches with intent. Working from the stretch with a high leg lift and loose three-quarter arm, he attacks hitters with an 86–88 mph fastball that’s touched 89.4. The slider at 76–79 shows bite, and the changeup at 82–83 is developing. Big frame, aggressive mentality, and the ability to spin it make him a name to follow.
