Top Prospect Games Houston: Player Analysis

On Wednesday, June 25th, the PB Texas staff traveled to the University of Houston in Houston, TX, to host the Top Prospect Games: Houston, an invite-only event for the class of 2026-2028.
More than 25 players made their way to the University of Houston and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports on each player in attendance as well as rank the top 7 overall from the event.
TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS
1. Mason Desai, Fulshear (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP RHS with good build to add strength. Athletic. Solid delivery, arm works with arm speed present. Expect to see velocity jump in future. FB has solid spin, ability to pitch up/down in zone. Feel for breaking ball with spin and ability to manipulate. Change has action with deception. Around zone with stuff. Solid RHP to follow.
Body: 6-0, 165 pounds. Good build/frame to add strength. Project solid build in future.
Hit: RHH. Straight up, shoulder width apart, slightly open. Knee lift, short stride. Rotational back foot and hits into a strong front leg. Good use of lower half. Hands/barrel in a strong launch position. Direct, quick path to the ball with good bat speed present. Good position at contact. 69 mph bat speed with 12g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 mph max exit velocity (87.3 avg.); 364-foot max batted distance. Solid bat/power combo. Has ability to drive balls into the left center gap. With adjustments would like to see approach focus on balls to both gaps.
Arm: RH. OF - 91 mph. Arm works well. Arm speed present. Full circle arm action. Throws have some arm side tail to them, keep a straight wrist behind the ball.
Defense: Works well to baseball. Gets feet in good position to throw and keeps momentum moving towards target. Steady defender at all three OF spots.
Athletic Testing: 6.75 runner in the 60-yard dash; Runs well with plus speed. Work on direction of arm swing being up and down instead of coming across body.
Vizual Edge: 62.56 Edge Score.
Delivery: Stretch only. Knee lift with inward turn to hip and shoulder. Cast stride leg out and around, lands in good spot. Nice getting over front side. Solid finish.
Arm Action: RH. Full circle with slight length. HTQ slot with good finish.
FB: T91, 89-91 mph. FB with carry up in zone. Tail increasing to arm side. Stuff present to pitch up/down with success. Expect FB velocity to make jump. T2566, 2471 average rpm.
SL: 74-75 mph. Solid pitch with spin, 3/4 type breaker, will get on side lengthen to glove side. More of CB type action based on this look. T2779, 2685 average rpm.
CH: 83-85 mph. Tail/sink action with deception present. Quality pitch, locates in zone. T1788, 1647 average rpm.
