Future Games: Team North Carolina Quick Hitters

The end of July has become one of the most pivotal periods on the amateur baseball recruiting calendar. The Prep Baseball Future Games, held annually at LakePoint in Emerson, GA, brings together the top uncommitted talent from across the country—drawing national attention from college programs coast to coast. With over 400 college coaches expected in attendance, the 2025 Future Games stands as a premier showcase event for aspiring collegiate athletes.

This year’s event once again features a three-tiered structure:

  • The Senior Future Games, spotlighting uncommitted players from the Class of 2026
  • The traditional Future Games, highlighting the Class of 2027
  • And the Junior Future Games, featuring select talent from the 2029 and 2030 classes

The Future Games is the marquee event of the week, drawing over 400 college coaches and scouts again in 2025.  The rising 2027 class was featured this year with a workout day on Wednesday, followed by three days of game play. Team NC showed out with high level college follows and several MLB Draft follows on the roster.

Below, we take a closer look at how the Team North Carolina performed in front of a packed house of college coaches and professional scouts at LakePoint.

QUICK HITTERS: TEAM NORTH CAROLINA INFIELDERS

Charlie Beck, SS, Central Davidson HS, 2027

Left handed hitter impressed with his bat throughout the week. There is balance, quickness, and intent. Carried an impressive workout BP into game action where he showed an ability to do damage ahead in the count and battle behind in the count. Solid at-bats left on left. In the workout, max exit velocity of 92.7mph. In game action was on the barrel 4 of 6 at-bats, drawing several walks in very competitive at-bats. Solid actions on the infield. Has lateral quickness with soft hands.

Kellen Rogers, SS, Wake Forest HS, 2027

One of the top infield prospects in the country, Rogers continues to show excellent actions on the infield and in the box. Plays with excellent rhythm and an ease in his game. Oily hips and quick hands, he is still developing on the infield, but the actions suggest he could become a high level defender. Ran a 6.83 sixty with a 3.86 thirty yard split. In the box, the left handed hitter is flat and in the zone for an extended period of time, showing an ability to handle velocity while recognizing spin. Excellent zone control throughout the three games. In the workout the exit velocity peaked at 94.6mph. This is positioned to take big jumps as he continues to add strength to the youthful 5-foot-10, 155 pound build.

Corbin Spilliards, SS, DW Daniels HS, 2027

A big winner from the week, Spilliards competed with Team NC (Christ School in 2025) but will be heading to SC as the school year begins. Stock rising on Spilliards after the Future Games as he solidified himself as a prospect on the left side of the field with good range and easy carry across the diamond. A switch hitter, there is barrel feel and a flat path from both sides. The zone feel seems a bit better on the left side but there is an ability to do damage from both sides of the dish. Filled up the stat sheet on the workout day, running 6.86 with a 3.84 thirty yard split. Jumped over 25 inches. Exit velocity peaked at 102.1mph with a max distance off the bat of 370’. Also carried 88mph across the diamond in the infielder workout.

Matty Carroll, INF, Charlotte Christian, 2027

An advanced athlete that has made some adjustments in his game throughout 2025 saw it pay off at the Future Games. Competitive at-bats throughout the weekend resulted in 2 hits with 6 of the 8 at-bats producing hard hit balls off the barrel. Flat through the zone, leverage will come as he continues to fill out the 6-foot-1, 180 pound frame. Defensively the hands and feet work with good rhythm. Excellent first step with good angles at 3B and SS. Limited time over at 2B but took to the position with some ease as Team NC moved their infielders around throughout the event. Profiles as an average to above defender at a high level program as he progresses.
