The 2nd annual Senior Future Games took place on July 22-24 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classe of 2026 participated in one of the most popular events each year.
There were 36 teams, including Team Ohio, with players representing 43 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players are put through a showcase workout on Wednesday, the first day of the Future Games.
More than 300 colleges from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event. This year, more than 450 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.

2025 Senior Future Games: Team Great Lakes - Senior Future Games Continues To Grow In Second Year
EMERSON, Ga. - The second year of the Senior Future Games saw a major change which proved to be popular.
The event started with the showcase and first game action on Tuesday, while concluding a day later with a pair of games for each team while the 16U Future Games was just getting started with a workout day. The new format permitted more eyes to be on the Seniors, who will be heading into their final year of high school soon.
“I thought the Senior Future Games was better this year, due to the scheduling and timing,” pointed out Dennis Healy, Prep Baseball Scouting Director for New England. “The college coaches were able to see a bunch more of the 2026s.”
Adam Goodwin, Prep Baseball Scouting Director for Michigan, agreed.
“I thought the growth of the event from year one to year two was significant in terms of the amount of college programs coming over to watch that event,” Goodwin pointed out. “Many of those programs are still looking for pieces to add for the 2026 class. We had a number of kids who showed well and should draw attention to themselves. One of our kids (Dylan Luepke, of De La Salle) has already garnered a commitment (Western Michigan).”
While Luepke was one of three arms from Michigan (Ohio also had three) that pitched for Team Canada at the Senior Future Games, one member of the Great Lakes team, which was comprised of players from Michigan and Ohio, found a college home with Kenyon Oakes committing to Akron.
“Senior Future Games got me some other looks, but Akron really showed their appreciation for me that week,” noted Oakes, a senior from Massillon Jackson. “With one last conversation with my family I knew Akron was the right place for me to call home.
“I really appreciate the coaching staff for believing in me. A big thing for me is trust and that’s a staff that I can trust. They trust me in the box and on the mound. They enjoy the passion and that dawg mentality I play with.”
With more than 400 coaches on hand, players were excited about the opportunity given to them to play in the Senior Future Games.
“I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to come down and compete in such a highly sought-after event,” explained Kellan Riesenbeck, a LaSalle High School senior. “So many people wish that they had the opportunity to participate, so I will be forever grateful to have gotten the chance.”
The same can be said of Grady Monigold.
“I thought being a part of Great Lakes was a huge honor and I am very glad that I got this opportunity with it being an invite-only event and only a very select group of people were invited,” the incoming senior at Hiland said. “Some things that stood out is how we all just blended together and found the best in the opportunity. We were all very personable and talked to each other.”
Mac Reed, a middle infielder from Turpin who had a strong performance at the event, summed it up well.
“The whole experience was awesome,” the senior-to-be said.
A Prep Baseball thank you to all that participated and a special thanks to the players on Team Great Lakes that gave their thoughts about the event:

PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? The main highlight of the Future Games for me was getting the opportunity to compete with some of the best guys in the country.
PBR: Assess your performance. I feel good about how I played. There is always room for improvement in anything you do and this event showed me what played and what needs to be sharpened.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I thought being on Team Great Lakes was a great experience. I felt like we got along really well and had a good time.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. Before the games I was never in a position where I could play in front of that many college coaches, so that was definitely a cool experience.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? I think my favorite memory from Senior Future Games was meeting all the players on my team for the first time. We all took a couple minutes to introduce ourselves and talk, and that is probably the memory that I will remember most. But my favorite part about the event was playing in the games and having the opportunity to play against some of the top talent in the country.

Cooper Russell SS / Lakewood High School, OH / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My Senior Future Games highlights were my two doubles I hit in game one and two.
PBR: Assess your performance. I thought I played well. Alongside the two doubles I had a couple walks and hard hit outs alongside some stolen bases.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I think what stood out about being on Team Great Lakes were the kids on the team and the bond we all had right away. It was super easy to feel welcome and comfortable which made the experience so much better.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. The recruiting process was slow prior to the games. I got hurt at the end of the high school season so I missed the first half of the summer which made the Future Games super beneficial to me.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? I got in contact with a couple of coaches from the Northeast after the games
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My favorite memories were the bonds I made with kids I had never known before the games.

Kenyon Oakes LHP / OF / Massillon Jackson, OH / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My highlights were getting on base and stealing bags. They say play to your strengths and the hit tool and speed tool are my best.
PBR: Assess your performance. I think I played pretty well. My stats weren’t the best but they weren’t the worst. A .500 OBP, .333 BA, solid defense in the OF, and pitching solid against some of the best uncommitted players left in the country, how could you be upset with that? Workout wise on day one my metrics went up from January so I’d consider that a good day. I felt as if I showed how a coach can end up with 35 guys on his roster instead of 34.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I thought Team Great Lakes had great chemistry for guys who have never played together. Even though I didn’t know many of those guys' names, it felt like we’ve played together all summer. We had fun and were serious when it became game time. I got to share the field with a lot of talented dudes.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. Prior to Future Games I had received one offer and multiple schools had reached out showing interest. It’s so much harder on the ’26 class nowadays, and especially hard for guys like myself who are under 6-0. Where I have an advantage is I’m left-handed and throw pretty hard. I’ve been in contact with multiple schools from January when I hit 90 at a PBR showcase. Coaches from Akron, Wright State, Dayton, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Marshall, Washington, Ole Miss, Penn, UMES, Ohio, Tennessee Tech, and more have contacted me in the past showing interest.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? After the Future Games I hope that the list from January keeps growing as I show what I can do for a school at the next level. So far a couple coaches have followed me and a couple have reached out.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? One of my memories includes talking to a bunch of new talented players. It was an eye-opening experience to see so many talented uncommitted dudes like me fighting for a few spots. Everyone’s trying to play their best and show what they can do. You’ve got to be able to live up to the hype and not let the pressure get to you. I really enjoyed the fun we had as a team. We only played three games together, but it felt like we’ve been playing together all summer.

Kellen Ford OF / RHP / Hopkins, MI / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? The showcase went great for me, running a 6.3 and throwing 95 from the outfield felt great.
PBR: Assess your performance. My showcase performance was great. I was happy with how I performed.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I loved being able to make friends with the guys. What stood out to me was the level of camaraderie that we had after only being together for two days.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. I’ve had a touch-and-go process to date. It has been lots of stop and go.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? John C. Logan CC and Boston College.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My top memory at the Future Games was getting to know all of the guys on Great Lakes.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I thought being a part of Team Great Lakes was a great experience. Being with Ohio and Michigan guys was great.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. I wasn’t in touch with many colleges prior to the Future Games, having talked to Northern Kentucky a bit.

Mac Reed SS / 2B / Turpin High School, OH / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My highlights were being a part of a new team with so many good players and facing such competitive pitching. I had a couple hits and was able to steal a couple bases against some top catchers.
PBR: Assess your performance. I would have liked to have had a couple more at-bats so I could get some more pitches to hit but I told myself I was going to stay in my swing and not change my approach at the plate. I also was able to improve my 60 time to 6.51 which I hope will help me in the recruiting process.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I enjoyed the guys on the Great Lakes team. I really liked how everyone was so focused and positive. It was a really good energy.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. I am personally looking to stay regional so I reached out to several colleges prior to the Future Games and I am now reaching out again to mention how I competed there. I am hoping to get some responses.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? I know it’s hard for the class of ’26 but I know I can be a help to a college baseball roster and I’m hoping to get some opportunities.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My favorite memory was being there with my dad and mom. They often have to divide and conquer as my sister is a college track athlete and our family is very busy so it was nice having them both there to experience Lakepoint with me.
|
|
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? Throwing out a runner in the third game in front of a bunch of scouts was a highlight. It felt like I showed my best tool, defense.
PBR: Assess your performance. I’m satisfied with my performance. I didn’t strike out once, had two hits through the week, didn’t let any passballs by and threw out a runner.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. It was the family atmosphere we had. Even though we were from different states it felt like we were all connected.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. I was still looking for a school and hoped that the Future Games would help me get my name out more.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? Western Michigan, GVSU, Madonna, Kellogg and Lenoir Rhyne.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? Being miced up behind the plate for an inning and ending up throwing out a runner.

Zach Church C / RHP / Highland High School, OH / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? Definitely throwing out the kid trying to steal in the first game and having a good showcase workout.
PBR: Assess your performance. I was happy with my performance defensively. Offensively I thought I should’ve done more damage but I’m not necessarily upset about it.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. It was great. All the guys were awesome to be around. Playing with that caliber of guys was a good time.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. It was kind of slow but after a good summer I’ve been starting to get more looks and interest.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? It was mostly Findlay, but I had multiple mid-major D-I schools showing lots of interest while talking with travel ball coaches
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? Playing against that competition and knowing that I was getting the best exposure in the nation.

PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My top memories from the Senior Future Games was seeing all of the coaches there and striking out four batters in two innings.

Lukas Potkanowicz SS / 2B / Anthony Wayne , OH / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My Senior Future Games highlights were definitely the amount of competition there was that wanted to compete and show what they can do. I loved the guys on Team Great Lakes and we all had a blast together!
PBR: Assess your performance. I got on base every at-bat except for two and felt like I was barreling the ball through the zone. I had a single my first at-bat with a 97.4 exit velocity and knew it was gonna be a fun two days!
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. Being down at Lakepoint for Team Great Lakes was an honor and I couldn’t be more thankful toward PBR and everyone who has helped me to be able to showcase my talent! I really loved how organized the event was and how it made sure to show coaches what we are made of.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. My recruiting process has been going pretty well so far but I am still looking for a home for the next four years. I want to find somewhere I can love and live while becoming a better ballplayer and young man.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? The coaches I was in contact with were the University of Findlay, St. Norbert, Adrian, ONU, Highland College and a few Academy high schools
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My top memories from Senior Future Games were definitely the people you meet and the experience you get! The group we had, including the coaches, were outstanding and made sure to not just have fun but to fully engage yourself with the game and coaches watching!

PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? I wasn’t with Team Great Lakes for very long, only one game, and I only threw two innings for them. The biggest highlight, however, is just the time I got to spend with the guys. It’s so awesome to see the immediate bond you can make with kids you don’t know just simply because you are trying to achieve a common goal.
PBR: Assess your performance. I performed well below expectations from my teammates, coaches, friends, family, and especially myself. Unfortunately, I struggled to handle the pressure and wasn’t able to show my best stuff to everyone in attendance.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I was very proud coming in to be a part of Team Great Lakes. I was so excited to wear that across my chest and represent because what it really meant to me was I was one of the top uncommitted players chosen from not just Ohio, but Michigan as well, to represent the region.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. My recruiting process has been difficult and stressful to say the least. I was hoping that coming to the Senior Future Games would boost my profile a little bit and help me stand out. The performance I displayed most likely will not help me to do that, however.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? I have unfortunately not been in contact with any coaches prior to the Future Games.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My top memory from the Future Games is just the rush of adrenaline I felt while running out to the mound in the seventh inning to get ready to throw. Again, I didn’t throw anywhere near how I would’ve wanted to, but it was still a cool opportunity.

James Nuechterlein RHP / OF / Dakota High School, MI / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My highlights from the Senior Future Games were topping 90.7 and only giving up one hit even though it was a tank.
PBR: Assess your performance. I’d say I pitched alright, I just need to stay ahead in the count more and not walk the first batter. I really liked how my changeup worked only allowing weak contact against it. Other than the home run, there wasn’t any other hard contact which was good.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. Being on Team Great Lakes was pretty sweet. It was really cool to talk with players from out of state and the people that I have never talked to from Michigan, also. The team was a great group of kids and everyone had a positive attitude at all times.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. So far the recruiting process has been going solid. Recently there have been a lot more schools reach out. D2, D3 and Juco have been in contact with me.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? So far no college coaches have reached out to me after the Senior Future Games, but the schools I have been in contact with before have said stuff.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My top memories from the event were definitely being able to compete in front of all the coaches, and when I threw 90.7 on the last fastball I threw.

PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My Future Games highlight was having three strike outs in two innings.
PBR: Assess your performance. I feel like I pitched really well. My command was on the whole outing, I just think I should have limited that lead-off triple.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. Being a part of Team Great Lakes was awesome and a great experience. All the kids were nice to me and we had a fun time.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. Prior to the Senior Future Games the recruiting process was definitely a roller coaster for me personally. With the roster changes it’s hard to get looks.

PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? I really enjoyed getting to compete against high-level talent and getting to showcase my ability in front of college coaches.

PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My top memories from the Senior Future Games were getting to talk with other pitchers that want to get better just as much as I do. I thought the PBR staff did a great job making sure everyone was ready and giving great feedback.

Chris York RHP / 3B / Clarkston, MI / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My highlights were hanging out during the showcase and during the games with a great group of guys, as well as going three up and three down with two strikeouts in my second inning.
PBR: Assess your performance. I believe I performed pretty well, but there is always room to improve. I gave up a run on a few missed pitches and could’ve been better in certain areas, but overall two innings and four strikeouts isn’t too bad.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. I loved being part of Team Great Lakes. What really stood out to me is how well we connected within 10 minutes of meeting each other. We obviously all bonded over baseball but at the same time we all had such great connections.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. It took awhile for my recruiting process to kind of pick up but this summer it caught its course with taking visits and getting to know coaches and their programs.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? Yale, Davidson, BGSU, and Penn, along with a few others are who come top of mind, but it’s possible that more will come in over the next few days with the games wrapping up.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My best memory is just hanging out with the guys. The group was really relaxed and tight within one day of playing with each other. Being able to put on the same jersey and compete with each other was obviously just a bonus. I loved every second with those guys and we all will be pulling for each other in the next few years of our careers.

Brenden Olsen 1B / OF / Niles Senior High School, MI / 2026
PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? Caleb had made an error and I had my back turned and when he went for the ball all I heard was “oh shoot” loud as ever. We laughed about that for a while.
PBR: Assess your performance. I felt I underperformed based on my usual ability at the plate, but also felt unprepared because of the competition I've seen so far this summer.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. It was a cool experience to play baseball with guys you don’t know. Something that stood out was the bond we had together. It was like we knew each other forever.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. Lots of schools have called and talked about seeing me and getting me on campus.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? More or less the same as before.

PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? Some highlights were just being able to be part of an event like this at that beautiful complex, as well as being around guys who just love the game of baseball and play it while having fun. Another highlight was the opportunity to play in front of 300+ scouts.
PBR: Assess your performance. I believe I had a solid performance and that I showed that my bat can compete and be successful at a high level as I showed in BP. Even though I was 2 for 6, I saw a lot of pitches and did my job at the plate by having very pro-style at-bats with my approach .
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. The recruitment process is taking its course as a few schools have reached out at the NAIA, D3 and D2 levels. They reached out and expressed interest before I came to the Future Games.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? Nobody has reached out at this moment.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? One of my top memories was the workout day with the guys. We had a fun time just talking and meeting each other. Another is when I took BP and I hit the first two balls out when I was swinging at about 80 percent, hopefully showing off my swing and how well I control it. Another great memory was hanging out and talking to all the state directors. I enjoyed all of the conversations we had about baseball and just life in general.

PBR: What were your Senior Future Games highlights? My Senior Future Games highlight was having the opportunity to compete against the best players in front of hundreds of coaches. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to showcase my abilities.
PBR: Assess your performance. I would have liked to compete better and dominate the zone more. It was a great opportunity to assess my performance by seeing how I can compete better against the best of the best. I was able to learn a lot from my outing as well as the other pitcher’s outings to better myself.
PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Great Lakes and what stood out. Being part of Team Great Lakes was an amazing experience. I was able to meet a lot of new great guys. The Coaches were amazing. Everyone was very nice, so it was very easy to make new relationships. We had a lot of talent on our roster, so I was able to learn and improve my game from watching others.
PBR: Touch on your recruiting process prior to the Senior Future Games. My recruiting process has given me opportunities to have conversations with a large variety of schools from many different conferences. I have been able to learn from each conversation to see what I am looking for in a program.
PBR: What college coaches were you in contact with during or after the Senior Future Games? I was in contact with mid-major programs that were attending the Future games. They were very grateful for the Future games because they were able to see me and all the other guys they were looking at all in one place competing against each other. The Future games gave me the opportunity to pitch in front of these schools, but also the opportunity to be seen by other schools that were there.
PBR: What are your top memories from the Senior Future Games? My favorite memories from the Senior Future Games were meeting all the guys on the team and having fun with them in the dugout.
