This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Standing 6-foot-1, Codey Brown is a right-handed catcher and first baseman from Ayala High. The fourth ranked catcher in all of California is also ranked as the forty-eighth best player in the entire state, climbing the ranks after an impressive sophomore campaign for Ayala.

In his sophomore season, Brown hit to the tune of a .313 batting average and a .840 OPS. Brown also showed off his power throughout the season, tallying 7 extra base hits, one of which being a home run.

The backstop also showed off some speed, swiping six bags on the year.

At the Future Games Tryout, all of Brown's talents were on display. Brown ran a 7.10 second 60-yard-dash, had a max exit velocity of 95.9 MPH off the bat, and showed off his pop time, registering at 1.96-1.98 seconds.

LakePoint will be a familiar place for Brown. Two summers ago, Brown represented California at the 2023 Jr. Future Games. Brown gave a strong impression to scouts in attendance with his athleticism, consistency at the plate, and strong defensive presence behind the dish.

The catcher’s ability to hit for power, be a threat on the bases, and play sound defense behind the dish is a huge asset for Team SoCal.

“Coming off a strong sophomore season at Ayala High School where Brown hit over .300, the hyper-athletic catcher continued to impress at the tryout with his ability to catch-and-throw with the best of them in his class. His batting practice was loud over two rounds with line drive after line drive. Arm strength and accuracy continue to impress as all throws during the workout and in-game were on the bag giving the shortstop a chance at a tag. While did not register a hit in-game, he barrelled two balls over 90mph that were caught in the outfield.” - California Scouting Staff
