In his sophomore season, Hill was extremely impressive at the plate, registering a .452 batting average and a 1.132 OPS. Additionally, Hill showed off some power, tallying 8 extra-base hits, two of them via the long ball.
On the bump, across 37.1 innings, Hill fanned 37 batters and recorded a 1.88 ERA.
At the Future Games tryout at Pepperdine University, all of Hill’s talents were on full display. Hill was ranked as the fifth best overall prospect of the event.
Hill’s 6.77 sixty yard dash was the fifth fastest on the day.
The strong righty swing generated a 97.9 MPH max exit velocity and a 345’ max batted distance.
Hill’s average max exit velocity (95.9 MPH) was the highest average of the event.
Additionally, Hill’s average bat speed (72.2 MPH) was the fastest on the day.
In the field, Hill showed off a both impressive and accurate arm, reaching 81 MPH on the radar gun. Hill also impressed when taking the mound, displaying a strong control of the strike zone and ability to tunnel his pitches.
Hill’s two-way ability, accompanied with his athleticism and plate discipline makes him a must watch player when he arrives at LakePoint later this month.
“Hill made the trip down from the Bay Area to take part in the Malibu event and the NorCal two-way made his trip well worth it. Checking in at 6'1 with emerging strength to his frame now weighing in at 181.7 lbs his athletic ability continues to trend up with a 6.77 60 yard time while posting splits of 1.58 at the 10 yard mark and 3.71 at the 30 yard mark with Hill topping out at 20.1 MPH and reached 26.7" on his vertical jump. Once the defensive workout began his clean actions were on display moving around in the OF while showing off an accurate 81 MPH OF arm. His batting practice session was one of the most impressive displays for the consistency of the hard hit contact he produced. Hill works from a wider set up and utilizes a flatter stroke through the zone, but was on the barrel all day during batting practice with a peak exit velocity of 97.9 MPH, but his average exit velocity was 95.9 MPH producing a 100% hard hit rate (ball hits 95 MPH plus) wearing out the gaps with line drives over and over again. His swing metrics on Blast Motion were amongst the top in nearly every category and his feel to hit carried over into the game with strong plate appearances. The totality of Hill's day made a strong case for a potential Team NorCal invite.- Steven Hardesty, Associate Director So Cal
