This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.
Standing 6-foot-6, Elliot Cresap is a left-handed first baseman and pitcher from Upland High School. The fourth ranked first baseman in all of California is also ranked as the seventy-seventh best overall player in the state.
In his sophomore season, Cresap hit to the tune of a .367 OBP and drove in 11 runners.
In the field, Cresap flashed the glove with a .931 fielding percentage on 58 total chances.
On the bump, Cresap fanned 19 batters across 19.2 innings pitched.
At the Future Games Tryout, all of Cresap’s talents were on full display.
Cresap showed off his smooth and powerful lefty swing. Cresap had the seventh best max exit velocity of the day, registering at 99.1 MPH off the bat.
Where Cresap was able to really shine was when the lefty took the mound. His performance on the day earned him the rank as the third best pitching prospect of the day.
Cresap’s fastball had an average spin rate of 2078 RPM which was the fifth highest average of the event.
Cresap pairs the fastball with a strong slider that tops out at 2103 RPM.
The tall lefty’s ability to be a threat both in the batter’s box and on the mound makes him a fun player to watch when he takes the field at LakePoint.
“Another imposing framed Soph. this time out of the Inland Empire area, Cresap is a 6 '6 LHH and LHP who shows an interesting two-way profile. During a live look at his offensive profile, Steven Hardesty saw a trio of solid at bats including an uphill swing which flashed the feel to loft the baseball with carry that profiles to future power as he learns to consistently tap into in games. For his spring season, Cresap homered while driving in 11 runs, drawing 13 walks, flashing the foundation of his offensive potential in the middle of the Scots order. In addition, his lefthand pitching profile shows potential with 19 Ks over 19.2. Debuting inside the Top 100 imposing Cresap is closer to the floor of his potential at present, but with an intriguingly high ceiling for his future don't be surprised if we see Cresap move up this board in the coming years.” - California Scouting Staff
