2025 Eugene Summer ID - Quick Hits
July 18, 2025
Recently, Prep Baseball PNW hosted our 2025 Eugene Summer ID at PK Park on campus at the University of Oregon. Prep Baseball scouts evaluated high school athletes in the 2026-2029 graduating classes, with several strong showings throughout the events.
Summer ID events serve as an important tool for both Prep Baseball scouts and college recruiters, who will subsequently create lists of prospects to follow as they plan their remaining summer coverage. We often tend to see prospects' best showings at Summer ID events, as players are fresh off playing for their respective high schools and are in the routine that consistently playing in-game offers. Standout performances can lend invites to some of the summer's top events, including the 2025 Pacific Northwest State Games.
Today, Prep Baseball releases our Quick Hits, detailing scouting notes on standout players from the events.
Eugene Summer ID (7.14.25)
27 OF/RHP Cason Jacobs (Crescent Valley)
Physical, well rounded-athlete with carrying tools. 6.97 runner with burst and quickness from the jump. Easy mover in the OF. Feet stayed underneath him throughout with longer strides as he closes ground on the ball. Quality arm strength at 81 presently. Offensively flashed quick bat speed with power potential. Peak EV up to 101.1 mph. Tight, compact turn to initiate swing and get barrel into the zone. Did flash some 2-way ability as well with a 2 pitch FB/CB arsenal in his bullpen session.
‘25 C/RHP Anthony Albano (Ashland)
6’0, 176 lb backstop has given 2 strong looks this summer and made some nice jumps in his most recent outing. Peak EV jumped up to 97.5 mph while showcasing more loft and consistent lift in his swing, especially to the pull-side gap. Hits from a quiet stance with a slight leg lift to gather before a shorter forward stride. Stays tall throughout. Defensively keeps hips low and beneath the ball while staying tall with upper half. Quick exchange into a lower ¾ slot. Ball carried true and was on the bag throughout.
‘26 RHP/3B Andrew Street (Corvallis)
Primary RHP who presented a strong 2-way performance this week as we got our first look. On the mound, controlled a 3 pitch mix featuring FB/CB/CH from a simple, repeatable motion. Overall the FB played true and he commanded well to his gloveside. CB flashed sharp bite and depth with 12/6 shape. Kills spin well on the CH and creates more downer action with sinker type shape, less run. Hit well with a peak EV of 94.1 and handled his INF reps with a steady, controlled pace and sound actions.
‘27 LHP Cody Mitchell (Crescent Valley)
Big, durable build at 6’6, 215 with present strength. Pitched from a simple, repeatable delivery with some changes in tempo and slight hesitation and hand break before he gets into stride. Pause allows him to stay back and gathered over rear leg and avoids rushing down the slope. Short, compact arm action from a high ¾ release. 3 pitch mix with FB presently at 77-79 with lower spin rates & heavier life. Also mixed in 2/7 CB and straight CH. Size and strength make the projection intriguing as their likely velo gains to unlock as he continues to mature and get stronger.
‘26 LHP/OF Logan Trivette (Ashland)
Polished lefty arm showed a quality 4 pitch mix and a consistent feel for his mechanics. Smooth, easy mover through delivery with a loose, whippy arm action. Stays behind the ball well and controls forward momentum down the slope. FB presently 81 - 83.3 with sustainable effort. CB/SL/CH round out the arsenal with CH flashing some impressive arm-side run and fade. Chance to stick as a starter.
‘27 SS Rylan Mosbrucker (Crescent Valley)
Lean, wiry athlete with strength in the frame and some twitchy actions. Quick runner out of the gate with burst and an agile first move. 7.02 in the 60 highlighted by quality short distance splits. Light, active feet on defense that should keep him on the dirt long term. At the plate featured a more level bat path with line drive contact and a middle of the field approach. Presently more contact oriented and not concerned with aggressively trying to lift the ball Hitterish vibes in the box.
‘27 1B/LHP Jacoby Yousey (Cashmere)
Recently relocated from London, England, don’t see that very often! Rising Junior put together a 2-way performance highlighted by some exciting left-handed power in the box. Peak EV up to 98.6 mph while showing a tight, athletic turn on the ball with quality swing metrics. Intriguing offensive profile with chance to make power gains as he matures. Athletically handles 1B with ample arm strength and nice footwork around the bag. On the mound he worked in a 3 pitch mix from a high ¾ release featuring at 78-79 mph FB. Could be a big riser in the class as he continues to show this summer.
‘28 INF Brody Joyce (Canby)
Young up and coming prospect flashed a mature game with promising upside. Started off with a 7 flat in the 60 and quality short distance splits. Handled INF with a clean, consistent glove hand while making the routine plays seem routine. Arm strength trending in the right direction. Offensively kept things quiet and simple which allowed him to deliver the barrel on time and out front. Held an avg EV of 85.3 while peaking at 92.7. Will be a riser in the class following this strong performance.
‘26 RHP Slade Hudson (Cascade)
Strong, stocky build at 6’0, 190 lbs. 2-way performer on this look who made his loudest impression on the mound to wrap up the workout. FB topped at 84.5, leading the event and held 82.4 - 84.5 throughout. Sharp SL at 69-70 with quality CH that showed late, hard run in the bottom of the zone. Has some present strength and was up to 93.7 with his exit velocity and showed rotational power in all facets of his game. Keep an eye on the arm as he shows several attributes that lend itself to making jumps down the road.
‘28 3B/RHP Samuel Hoda (Sprague)
Arguably had the most consistent and steady BP showing of any prospect on the day. Peaking at 92.2 EV while holding a great average of 89.1 mph on all balls put in play. Frame has added strength from previous looks and he carries the size easily without compromising his actions. Quick hands and above average bat speed. Strong armed corner INF defender. Throwing ability translates well to the mound as he showed a 3 pitch arsenal with a FB up to 80 and feel for his CB and CH. Excited about the offensive upside with the added strength.
‘27 OF Ryder Curtiss (Barlow)
Registered the hardest throw from any defensive position on the day when he was up to 86 mph from the OF. Strong rotational athlete with bat speed up to 75.2 mph and a peak EV of 95.6. Worked pull-side throughout BP with lift into the LCF gap. Has chance to continue to produce power with how easily he can rotate and create tension from the ground up.
