Andrew Bezak OF / RHP / Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, MD / 2027If there’s anyone who exceeded expectations headed into the week, it’s Andrew Bezak. This bat has always been a high contact guy who would find barrels, but had hit a bit of a slump over the last few months, struggling to get back into his groove. Bezak found the best time to be himself again, slashing .375 over 3 games, and even though only 3 hits are listed on the stat line, he found barrels in nearly every at-bat. Showed off a little bit of juice as well, launching a couple deep line drives to all parts of the field, resulting in a long FO to LCF and a RBI triple down the right field line. Along with the ability shown in-game, Bezak impressed in the workout as well in all facets, turning in an above average arm from the outfield with consistent mid-90s EVs. As the run tool continues to increase, look for Bezak to find a home with a program that is looking for someone who has a feel for the barrel and will produce in any way. - Cole Ledger

Malcolm Blaqman SS / RHP / Southern MD Christian, MD / 2027I’m a huge fan of highly athletic two-ways, and Blaqman fits that mold perfectly. Got the start for Team Maryland on the bump in game 1 and filled up the strikezone with the three-pitch mix. The fastball explodes out consistently in the upper 80s with the ability to ramp it up in the low 90s with plenty left in the tank. The ability to change eye levels and work the fastball to different quadrants of the zone impresses, and as the strike percentage increases even more, look for the arm talent to really gauge college suitors. Offensively, it’s a raw, yet explosive operation at the dish, showcasing the ability to spray line drives to the gaps with some untapped power potential to the pull side. The explosiveness and quick-twitch is intriguing and should only increase as the consistency starts to unfold. - Jamie Naill

Trevor Collins C / SS / Urbana High, MD / 2027Switch-hitting catchers are a novelty in our sport, and Collins certainly impressed with the hit tool down in Georgia. On barrel consistently, the strength is to the middle of the field and the ability to turn around low 90s fastballs from both sides of the plate was impressive to watch. It’s a simple, fluid operation at the dish with a smooth line drive approach, utilizing quick hands and strong wrists to spray line drives. Another frame that still needs to fill out, look for the hit tool to really spark as the body matures. - Jamie Naill

Brandon Emig RHP / 2B / Salesianum, DE / 2027The MVP of Game 3 against Pennsylvania, Emig started off the game on the bump doing exactly what he advertises when he goes out there. Compete, mix all 3 pitches in the zone for strikes, and work the entire arsenal with ease. Emig struck out a pair of hitters over two innings of work, showing the confidence to land the high-80s fastball in any count, grabbing the occasional 90. Not as many sliders on this day, but showed effectiveness away from hitters. The changeup was the difference-maker for Emig, throwing it both to lefties and righties for swing and miss in and out of the zone. It may not be the most electric stuff from the week, but you know exactly what you are getting from the future starter. - Cole Ledger

Brody Fleming RHP / SS / Appoquinimink High School, DE / 2027Fleming certainly opened some eyes during his two innings on the mound. A crossbody delivery, it’s a tough look against right-handed hitters, working consistently 88-89, grabbing 2 90s. Outside of a home run allowed off an outside FB, his outing was spectacular, striking out a pair of hitters in the process. Fleming worked mainly in the zone to induce a ton of weak contact, including a seven pitch first inning, inducing three groundballs to second. The slider showed the ability and effectiveness in-game as it continues to develop, mixing in a low-80s changeup as his go-to secondary pitch. Expect Fleming to have some interest come tomorrow morning. - Cole Ledger

Anderson Lambert OF / 3B / McDonogh, MD / 2027Unquestionably one of the top position players at the Future Games this year, MD’s number 1 ranked 2027 impressed consistently all week long and not only upped his stock amongst the Prep Baseball ranks, but the 400+ college coaches took notice as well. Lambert started his week notching his personal best 60-yard, turning in a 6.74 (3.80 30-yard) before showcasing one of the smoothest and explosive BP rounds of anyone in the Mid-Atlantic pod, to the tune of a 102.4 mph max exit velocity and 96.5 average exit velocity. It’s an ultra-athletic 6-foot frame with present strength and more to come as the body continues to mature which should add to the present gap-to-gap strength already portrayed. In game, Lambert was on barrel seamlessly every at-bat, showcasing exciting hand/bat speed and a loud line drive approach, hitting .625 across the three games with four singles and a triple. As the pull side power comes to fruition, Lambert could easily become one of the top bats in this class across the country, and a possible call to this year’s All-American Game may be in the cards. - Jamie Naill

Dom Mangini RHP / 1B / Cape Henlopen High School, DE / 2027Just about as physical as they come, the big 6-foot-5, 260-pound righty showcased some of the better stuff that I’ve ever seen from him down at the Future Games. Working a true three-pitch mix, the fastball was free and easy out of the hand at 87-89, grabbing a 90 throughout his two innings of work. Effective when up in the zone, the fastball showcases plenty of ride through and still encompasses some left in the tank as the body and arm action cleans up. The curveball tunnels well off the heater and works as a nice secondary pitch, however, in my opinion, the splitter is the difference maker. Spin in the low 1000s, the splitter works well down in the zone and induces consistent weak contact. As the feel and confidence increases with the secondary, look for Mangini to be one of the next top arms to come out of Cape in Delaware. - Jamie Naill

Jaidon Maxwell 1B / RHP / Linganore High, MD / 2027The lone home run from Team Maryland came off the bat of Maxwell, and the power was certainly on display all week long. We’ve seen the strength consistently in the 6-foot-3, 200-pound corner infielders game, and sending one deep over the right-center field wall in game 2 put a nice cherry on top of a strong week for Maxwell. This is a true gap-to-gap type hitter with home run power to both alleys, showcasing the ability to manipulate the barrel and produce loud contact. Quick, loose hands allow for the approach to be consistent, and look for the hit tool to really take off as the maturity sets in. The ability to slide over to third base added versatility to the stock down at the Future Games for Maxwell and should allow college coaches a glimpse of what could be as this body really fills out. Look for the 2026 spring to be the breakout season for Maxwell across the state. - Jamie Naill

Noah McMurray RHP / OF / Huntingtown High School, MD / 2027A strong performance turned in by the 6-foot-2, 180-pound righty, working 2 innings, giving up one unearned run while striking out three. Keep eyes on this arm for years to come, as there is plenty left in the tank, running the fastball up to 89 at the Future Games with the ability to get whiffs at the top and ahead early by dotting to both sides of the plate. The curveball flashes potential and is effective when down, mixing in a downer changeup that plays well as a nice third pitch. It’s a controlled, intentful operation with more to come as strength is added. - Jamie Naill

Justin O'Connor 1B / 3B / Conrad Schools of Science, DE / 2027One of my picks to click this week, O’Connor blew everyone away at the 2025 Prep Baseball Future Games, showing off what may have been the most clutch hit tool of the week. Coming off a spring season where he hit over .530, you knew the ability at the dish was there, but the question looming was how would it fare against high-quality velo and stuff? His response; hitting .500 over 3 games. Came up big in Game 1 with a game-tying 2 RBI triple vs Virginia, following that up with another 2 RBI triple in Game 2 vs Canada before collecting 2 hits in Game 3, including a 2 RBI single. Final Line: .500, 4 H, 2 3B, 7 RBI. The ability on defense really caught my eye, making a couple web gems at the hot corner from such a big, physical frame. As the arm strength increases, expect O’Connor to have the flexibility for both corner positions at the next level. - Cole Ledger

Judah Shirlen SS / 2B / Archbishop Spalding High School, MD / 2027One of my picks to click prior to the Future Games, the 6-foot, 152-pound shortstop certainly put his stamp on the week and impressed immensely on both sides of the ball. Making a name for himself in multiple facets, I’m not sure if anyone showed off the glove work quite like Shirlen did, showcasing it not only during the workout, but in game as well. Slow rollers, backhands, forehands and bullets right at him was easy money for Shirlen and the hands were on display all week long. The internal clock is something that stood out to me and the baseball IQ is second to none up the middle on the defensive side. The arm strength needs to increase, however the actions and hands make up for it for the time being. Offensively, Shirlen was tied for the team lead in average at .625 with Lambert, notching four hits including a triple. It’s a sound approach with the ability to spray line drives line to line. The power will come as the body fills out, and look for this hit tool to really take off as muscle mass is added. Shirlen’s stock may be the hottest of anyone across the state right now and a standout performance at the Future Games was just what he needed as the summer grows closer to its end. - Jamie Naill

Matthew Sowers RHP / SS / Chesapeake High, MD / 2027We haven’t seen as much from this arm compared to the rest, but Sowers certainly put his name among the top performers on the bump this week. The easy velo was definitely prevalent, working the FB up to 90 with so much more left in the tank. The two biggest questions for me headed into the week; how would the command turn out and could the offspeed show effectiveness against high-quality hitters? From a command standpoint, he worked in and out of the zone but could land any pitch in the zone at any count to induce a weak rollover or to limit any walks. Sowers flashed the offspeed, showing both a CB and SL in the low-70s. Feel for both pitches varied, but had more success arm side with the CB and down at the knees with the slider. Just like many of our arms, the changeup seemed to be his most successful secondary pitch. With much more in the tank and the ability to fill up the zone, expect Sowers to get some much deserved interest come tomorrow. - Cole Ledger
