2025 Future Games: Alabama Quick Hits, Catchers

EMERSON, GA – The 2025 Prep Baseball Future Games were held July 22-27 at the premier LakePoint Sports Complex, attracting over 400 college coaches from around the country to scout the nation’s top uncommitted talent in the 2026-2029 classes.

Prospects from Alabama rose to the occasion, putting together an impressive performance during both the workout showcase and three days of high-level competition.

In this piece, we take a closer look at some of the top performances from Alabama catchers who stood out against the elite-level competition. Continue to check back over the course of the next few days, as we dive into each position and their respective Alabama standouts from the event.


Future Games: Class of 2027

+ C Colton Boyd (Orange Beach, 2027) continued to solidify his status as one of the premier catching prospects in the class, turning in a strong all-around performance that further elevated his profile. Physically advanced at 5-foot-11, 216 pounds, he offers noticeable strength that plays on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he already possesses the top skill set in the class behind the plate, and his offensive performance only added to his overall value. The right-handed hitter showcased a compact, well-connected swing with natural strength, consistently producing hard contact, including multiple barrels off arms in the low-90s. Recorded 1.93-2.02 pops and a 79 mph C velocity. Contact was loud throughout the weekend as he only increased his stock.

+ One of the more offensive prospects in the class, the bat continued to shine for C Brue Milner (Tallassee, 2027) throughout the course of the event. Listed at 5-foot-10, 213-pounds, Milner jumped out early with a loud round of BP during workout, posting a top EV of 104.8 mph to lead Team Alabama. He continued to find barrels during gameplay showing the ability to handle velocity well, as he sprayed loud contact and consistent line drives with the swings he barreled up. The load features a toe-tap trigger with explosiveness in the hips to rotate and does a good job of staying compact in a gap-to-gap right-handed swing. Had some flashes behind the plate in-game by throwing out a couple of runners at second base showing off impressive arm strength. Recorded 1.84-1.94 pops and a 78 mph C velocity during the workout.

+ C/UTL Eli Quinley (Faith Academy, 2027) showcased plenty of loud tools throughout the week that translated easily into gameplay. A 5-foot-0, 180-pounder, Quinley has a strong, athletic build that features compact strength in the lower-half. A 6.83-runner with a swing that topped at a 101.0 mph EV, the rising junior has easy impact skills from the right side of the plate and collected a couple of barrels in-game. The barrel works on a smooth, level path through contact while showing impressive hand quickness throughout. Possesses positional versatility to pair with the physical swing and athleticism. Recorded 1.94-2.04 pops and a 75 mph C velocity.


Senior Future Games: Class of 2026

+ C Tayte Dunn (Bob Jones, 2026) emerged as one of the biggest Alabama winners for Team South, as he produced on both sides of the ball against quality competition. A strong 6-foot-2, 191-pounder, Dunn has a smooth right-handed swing that consistently yields higher exits off the barrel during BP with a 97.7 mph EV. The barrel stays through the zone with quality extension out front. Took quality swings in-game, highlighted by a booming double to deep CF. Quality defensive skills from the crouch with 1.88-2.00 pops and an 80 mph C velocity.

+ C/1B Jacob Harris (Vestavia Hills, 2026) continues to be the model of consistency with the right-handed barrel that continues keeps producing each time we see him. A 6-foot-1, 190-pounder, Harris uses a simple right-handed operation that features minimal wasted movements in the swing. Hits from an upright stance with uses a short toe-tap trigger for timing. Barrel works on a level path and showcases an impressive feel for it. Quality strength at contact with a gap-to-gap approach at the plate. Recorded a 98.1 mph EV during BP with consistent barrels. Also added a hit during gameplay. Versatile defender who can play C and 1B.


Junior Future Games: Class of 2029

+ C Christian Thompson (Alma Bryant, 2029) was arguably the most consistent offensive performer for a loaded Team Alabama squad. The 6-foot, 191-pounder recorded multiple hits during gameplay and proved to be the most consistent run-producer for his squad. Possessing an athletic frame with quality proportional strength, Thompson has a balanced, athletic stance that loads up well on the back-side during the load. The barrel works on a level path and shows a high contact rate with the swing. All-fields approach with impressive blend of strength and athleticism.

+ C Mac Thompson (Boaz, 2029) is another quality rising freshman prospect who took consistent quality at-bats throughout the event. A 5-foot-9, 181-pounder, Thompson features a quick, compact right-handed swing that does a good job of utilizing the whole field with a current line-drive approach. The load is simple, allowing him to be short and direct on his path to contact and consistently be on-time for each swing.
