NJ Summer ID - Session II: Takeaways

On July 9th, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff hosted the NJ Summer ID - Session II at FDU Florham in Florham, NJ. 24 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball NJ staff.

Earlier this week, we released the Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting some of the best statistical metrics from the day.

Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Takeaways story.


Position Players

3B/OF Luke Kosoff (Don Bosco Prep, 2027) Lean, athletic build at 6-foot-3, 173-pounds. Wide stance from left side. Toe tap load, small stride. Compact, quick bat path and has some juice to the pull side when on the barrel. Peaked EV at 96 mph, with a max distance of 331’.

C/3B Parker Hughes (Christian Brothers Academy, 2026) Strong, athletic build at 6-foot 190-pounds. Tall, opened stance, loose hands through the zone with some line drive pop, up to 93 mph EV. Solid catch and throw ability with pops as low as 2.09, tosses 71 mph from the chute and 77 mph across the infield.

C Robert Gourley (Mahwah, 2026) Lean, athletic build at 5-foot-9 157-pounds. Looseness to the hands prepitch, gets foot down early and generates some line drive pop, peaking at 88 mph EV with a max distance of 336’. Consistently on time. Pop time range of 2.09-2.30.

C/SS Andrew DiGregorio (Westfield, 2028) Wiry athletic 5-foot-9 150-pounds. Tall, open set up. Short stride to start swing. Line drive hitter with some quickness to the barrel through the zone - more juice to come as he continues to fill out the frame, drove the ball up to 88 mph with an average of 80 mph. Above average catch and throw for age, explodes out of the crouch and delivers throws on the bag with backspin, up to 71 mph. In the INF, shows some quickness and easiness to glove exchange and some bounce to step. Throws topped at 79 mph across the diamond, able to throw from multiple slots.

Two-Way Players

OF/RHP Braden Cox (Ranney, 2028) has a lean, wiry athletic 6-foot-3 frame. Fastball had some late life to it, up to 82 mph. Clean, short, quick arm action and easy, repeatable delivery, mixed in a curveball and slider in the upper 60s and low 70s. At the plate, showcased the most impressive round of BP on the day. Controlled, easy juice with some whip to the barrel. Peaked his EV at 95 mph with a max distance of 339’. One of the top 2028 prospects in the state.

LHP/OF Andrew Summa (Morristown, 2027) flashed a short, compact barrel bath with some hand speed. Had a max EV of 94 mph with an average of 86 mph. Line drive approach with gap to gap potential as he continues to fill out the frame, stands 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. On the mound, clean delivery with a slight stab on the armswing. High-¾ slot, spun a breaker for strikes with 1/7 bite. Fastball sits 79-81 mph, for strikes, curveball is 64-66 mph, and changeup is 68-72 mph.

Pitchers

RHP Landon Hesse (Whippany Park, 2028) is a broad shouldered prospect with an athletic frame at 6-foot-1 185-pounds. Easy, repeatable mechanics with a loose whippy arm action. Velo will continue to climb as he gets stronger but the frame and arm action project really well. Fastball currently sits 78-80 mph, with run, slider is 66-69 mph, and changeup is 70-72 mph with 20 in. of total movement. Definite follow.
