This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Standing 5-foot-11, Cruz Garcia is a right-handed catcher and second baseman who lives in the Philippines during the school year, but plays baseball in Northern California during the summer. The ninth ranked catcher in all of California is also ranked as the seventy-fifth best overall player in the entire state.

At the Norcal Preseason All-State event, all of Garcia’s talents were on full display, earning him the rank as third best catcher of the event, and eighth best overall prospect of the event.

Returning to the states, Garcia made some noise at the Future Games Tryout in Sacramento.

The backstop showed off his speed with an event second best 6.69 second sixty yard dash.

Garcia impressed even more with the bat– his 104.8 MPH max exit velocity was the best of the day. Additionally, his batted ball max, which registered at 382 FT, was the fourth farthest of the day.

Garcia shined behind the dish with a 2.18-2.30 second pop time, which was the third fastest pop time of the event.

Garcia’s ability to hit for power, be a threat on the basepaths, and play sound defense behind the dish is a huge asset for Team NorCal.

“Cruz actually flew back to the Philippines the next day after the workout, it was nice being able to see him since summer time.  Garcia is only a 27' and has filled out a lot since I've last seen him play. 5 '10 " 202.2lbs, the frame is there and the bat came to play. The farthest ball Cruz hit of the day was 372ft and has a max EV of 97.2 MPH. He has the ability to drive the baseball to the middle of the field along with a 53.8% hard hit rate. Line drives are his game. His arm will continue to get stronger and Cruz will develop into a RHH C that can rake.” - Hank LoForte, Associate Director NorCal
