There were nineteen players from Virginia and DC that represented Team Mid-Atlantic at the 2025 Prep Baseball Senior Future Games. These are nineteen of the best players in the state and we want to take some time to discuss how those players fared at the Senior Future Games. We will separate them into a few categories, with added notes and video.

Catchers

Aidan Spagna C / OF / Independence High, VA / 2026

One of the best receivers in the state. Does a really good job at the bottom of the zone and keeps it pretty quiet back there. Average arm strength, but a quick exchange and release and is accurate to the bag. Swing shows some length at times and some slight uphill path. Best impact is from gap to the line and has been more singles and line drives to the middle. Solid bat to ball and competes in the box. It is defense first and the offense continues to make small strides forward. Handles arms extremely well and guys just seem comfortable throwing to him. Good chance this is the next positional player off the board.

Carter Thomasson C / RHP / Halifax County High, VA / 2026

Durable frame with some loud tools that are on display at times. Above average arm strength on throws from behind the plate and shows carry to the bag. At the plate it is a wider setup, a higher hand set, and has above average hand speed and higher end bat speed through the zone. Has flashed some occasional power from a simple heel lift to stride. Because of the bat speed and physical strength, Thomasson has the chance to produce some runs, as he displayed some at the 17U National Championship.

Pitchers

Luke Ayer RHP / OF / Madison High, VA / 2026

This has been a quick riser for us and rightfully so. Prototypical 6-foot-2 frame with proportional strength. It is a three-quarter arm slot and has gotten some carry on the fastball. Mostly upper 80's arm and will touch 90 at times. Has two secondary pitches that have the potential to be above average pitches, and have flashed that in short spurts. The splitter is firm in the upper 70's and has shown a solid feel for the zone at times with that pitch. The slider can be more sweeper in the mid 70's and has average to slightly above average shape. It is control over command and depending on the level, leans more short/middle reliever.

Caden Bell RHP / 1B / Potomac Falls High, VA / 2026

Sign me up for this NOVA area right hander. Higher waist, whippy arm, and some funk from a low slot. The velo was as good as we have seen it, sitting 86-88 in his two masterful innings of work. While the low slot sinker plays, it is the slider that is the winner. 77-79 mph and have seen it in that range consistently with maybe one or two 80's. He uses it early, uses it late, even counts, hitter's counts, and basically whenever he wants. It is one of, if not my favorite pitches in this class. Mostly a two pitch guy that has shown a slider, but is a distant third just because of the quality of the first two. Strike thrower with a college ready slider and a chance to add some velo down the road. Maybe not quite as funky as a Cooper Campbell (VCU), but has some of the same qualities/traits with a slightly firmer fastball.

Short work, heavy slider usage guy that can throw some big innings in some big spots in the middle to back end of games.

Jimmy Bollini LHP / James Madison High School, VA / 2026

This is a different look from the left side. Lower slot sinker guy who has a mid 80's fastball that has shown the ability to compete at the top and the bottom of the zone. The slider is more shorter shaped with some up and down to it. In the past few outings that I have seen, the Madison left hander has flashed the ability to land that tigher slider on the back foot of right handers, making it a pitch he can use vs hitters from both sides. The tight velo split on the sinker and slider offer some intrigue for potentially some more fastball velo down the road, but regardless it is a three pitch, low slot lefty that can land all three for strikes. He showed why he was one of the go to arms for the Warhawks and why he has a chance to be a frontline guy for them next year.

Benjamin Favreau LHP / 1B / Mechanicsville High, VA / 2026

5-foot-11, 175-pound even frame. While he has always shown the ability to pitch and get outs, the velo has been just a shade light at times, sitting more 83-86ish, but this week he ramped it up a little and showed that theres a little more there. The fastball was 87-89 in his two innings of work and as usual, landed his breaking ball when he wanted. The breaking ball is a tough softer in the velo department, but has consistently shown as a reliable secondary offering. He can start and finish counts with it. More 12/6 shape and has some bottom to it. Mostly two pitches and I would say more bulk reliever at this time and depending on the level, has some potential starter.

Michael Gambone LHP / 1B / Centreville, VA / 2026

Just an absolute bulldog on the mound. The kid flat competes. The stuff is solid, but it is the compete and the want-to that supersede everything. 86-88 and touch 89 with the fastball and throws a mid 70's slider for strikes just about whenever he wants. I think it is a higher floor type of arm, but if you want to go into someone else's house and have a chance to win baseball games, this guy is going to give you a heck of a chance. Pitches and plays with a little edge and whether it is best stuff or worst stuff, he simply does not back down.

Brayden Jacoby RHP / Dominion Sports Collective, VA / 2026

Higher intent/higher effort arm that has continued to tick up in the stuff department. More short relief/higher leverage guy. Full arm swing, above average arm speed, and lands on line with some direction to the plate. Thought the stuff was much sharper and in line during Senior Future Games than I have seen it recently. More sinker profile with the upper 80's fastball and the breaking ball has some tighter depth and downer action.

Josh Weppner RHP / OF / Battlefield High School, VA / 2026

The definition of a strike thrower and an arm that will give you a chance to win games every outing. Worked at 81% strikes for two innings. Attacking hitters from the first pitch to the last with his fastball/slider mix. The fastball worked in the 86-88 range and the slider was low 70's. The breaking ball, while it lands fairly consistently for strikes, could use some firming up in the velo department. It is hard to argue with the output that Weppner has produced in the last year. It seems like every single time this arm is on the mound, his team wins. The stuff is not elite in terms of pitch shape/makeup, but there is something to be said for winners.

Infielders

Shaun Brody Comparto 2B / RHP / Great Bridge High, VA / 2026

Coming off of a really strong spring and a MVP performance at State Games, Comparto picked up where he left off. The Great Bridge right hander and two-way talent was up to 91 on the mound. In addition to the arm talent on the mound, he did not waste any time impacting the game at the plate. He had a two run single in his first at bat and played some solid defense for Team Mid-Atlantic. On the mound he struck out five hitters in two innings and the breaking ball had some sharp depth at times. For me it is an arm first, but depending on the level, he still has the potential to compete for some positional time. He works quick, attacks hitters, and can land three pitches for strikes.

Gavin Genovese 3B / 1B / Gainesville High, VA / 2026

There are not many players in the state that have made the climb that Genovese has in the last year. Has always been a physical presence, but the swing has lacked looseness and and functionality at the plate. The swing is two-fold better and his athleticism has continued to improve. Depending on the school/level of play will have create some variance as to where he can potentially play positionally. Showed solid instincts at third during the high school season and has gotten a bit quicker. Footspeed is more average and could possibly be more first base long term, but has flashed some defensive upside at third. The buy is the offensive impact at the plate. Legitimate power upside and has the ability to mishit balls for extra base hits. Has some solid athleticism for his size and frame and should certainly be high on some boards.

Jake Gunning 1B / C / Highland School, VA / 2026

Some of the best BP I saw all week, regardless of Senior or regular Future Games. Willing and able to impact to the middle and backside of the field. Has shown ability to impact the ball on a regular basis and has a solid mix of bat to ball and power. Can hit spin and fastballs, as well as is not negatively impacted when the velo and quality of the arm pick up. It is quiet, creating some consistency and repeatability with the mechanics of the swing. Gunning was the second commitment from this group, announcing his commitment to William & Mary.

Thomas Jewett SS / 2B / St Paul Vi Catholic High School, VA / 2026

The first commitment from this Senior Future Games team came from this now Radford commit. Was one of my favorite players to watch this spring and nothing changed this summer. One of those guys that you know what you are going to get from him every single day. It may not be from a production or results standpoint every day, but Jewett is going to give energy, he is going to defend at a really solid level, and he is going to compete in the box every single pitch. If you enjoy baseball players, you enjoy watching him play.

Isaac Norman SS / 2B / Trinity Christian School of Fairfax, VA / 2026

Compact athlete that just seems to show up when his name is called. 6-6ish/6.7 runner with the footspeed and lateral range to stay up the middle. More suited for second base, but more than serviceable at shortstop (depending on the level). Has shown some length in the zone and the ability to hit for average with some occasional doubles. Mostly pull side gap to the line with the extra base ability, but has the footspeed to stretch an extra base when needed. Like a few others, put some quality swings on the ball, but not much to show for it.

Dylan Waits SS / 2B / Gonzaga College High School, VA / 2026

Twitchy and bouncy athlete with quick hands and a whippy barrel at the plate. Upright in his stance, minimal lower half involvement, quiet head, and hands do most of the work. With his hand speed and lean strength, there is some untapped power there in the swing, although it is still more doubles than power. Average arm strength that while it looks a little light from a metrics standpoint, it is more functional than someone out chasing a number. Can throw from multiple slots and can play on the run.

Outfielders

Logan Clark RHP / OF / Halifax County High, VA / 2026

Has an above average watch run and some serious juice at the plate at times, but this has certainly turned into a arm > bat profile. It is an easy, quick arm with power arm potential. Clark sits mostly in the 90-93 range, no matter how deep he is into the outing, but can grab a 94-95 with seemingly the same effort level and intent. Shorter arm swing that produces some high end arm speed. While the fastball spin is well above average (approaching elite) the shape and spin efficiency leave some room to grow. With development and some fine tuning, this fastball could create some serious lift and be a much better pitch than it currently plays like. On the other hand, while the breaking ball does not show well metrically, it is fairly firm and when in the zone, can win at bats. I had a chance to see two outings during my two week stay in Georgia, and while the 17U National outing was better, the strike percentage has shown some improvement. This is an arm that, if put with the right person, is going to be one to remember come July in a few years.

Joseph Petry OF / RHP / Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, VA / 2026

Wider and balanced stance at the plate that is evenly distributed. Whippy barrel that has shown the ability to produce in game, with occasional power, but more bat to ball and gap to gap doubles. Had some tough luck in game, hitting some balls right at people, including the one in the video below. The hand speed is above average and the bat speed is on the higher end. There is some length out front with the swing and that should allow for some adjustability in the swing. Corner outfield with above average arm strength and more of an average run.

JW Riggins OF / LHP / McLean High School, VA / 2026

This left handed bat continues to trend up. Has shown a really solid skill set when it comes to bat to ball skills. Consistently using the middle and backside of the field. Slightly above average watch runner, but has shown the ability to close in centerfield. More instincts and angles than pure footspeed, but has really gone and tracked some balls down in front of our staff the last few weeks. Average arm strength and more suited for center/left. Quick accelerator which has shown well with dirt ball reads and obviously helps him not only on the bases, but with initial jumps in the outfield. Hit tool bat that has not shown much impact to pull, but has certainly shown the ability to hit for average and handled all arms comfortably.

Jackson Rosales OF / RHP / Miller School of Albemarle, VA / 2026

Corner outfielder with strength in the frame. He is a slightly above average runner, especially for his strength and frame, as well as he has above average arm strength from the outfield. Arm strength and defensive ability to stick in right. The offense has flashed some power potential. Path is shorter in the zone and has shown best working to the pull side gap. Has the potential to be a run production bat with average to slightly above raw power.
