2025 Prep Baseball Senior Future Games: Day Two Standouts

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

EMERSON, GA – The 2025 Prep Baseball Senior Future Games kicked off Tuesday at LakePoint Sports, and Tennessee prospects wasted no time making their presence felt.

Team South, a talented mix of players from Tennessee and Alabama, played two games on Wednesday in front of a deep crowd of college coaches and scouts.

The atmosphere at LakePoint was electric throughout the day, with coaches lining the rails from batting practice to the final pitch. Tennessee’s 2026 class, in particular, turned heads with several eye-catching performances both at the plate and on the mound.

Here’s a breakdown of the top Tennessee standouts from Wednesday’s action. 👇

DAY TWO STANDOUTS

+ Gavin Bergeron: In terms of how much success one can have across an entire spring hs ball/summer-circuit, I think Gavin Bergeron defined what can be done. Following a very good high school season playing every day in one of the toughest districts in the state, he set off on summer ball conquest improving every step of the way. Culminating in Atlanta at the Senior Future Games, where over 3 games he had 3 extra base hits (1 triple 2 doubles) and 5 runs batted in. He was a guy that really made this opportunity to represent Team South himself and the ability plus results kept reflecting the internal belief that Bergeron continues to play with. The glove needs to continue to develop but shows upside as a reliable middle infielder with his best playing in front of him. Continues to come into his own and the results will continue to reflect thatI believe. Later bloomer that is blossoming at just the right time. Big Winner of the week and maybe was TN’s best hitter at Senior Future Games.

+ Colton Baron: Been a big fan of Baron for some time since I saw him two years ago as a likable up and coming arm from the Middle Tennessee region of Murfreesboro. Predicted he would be a district starter that year as a sophomore and ended up being the best pitcher on the staff 2/3rd of the way into the season. An injury derailed what was a very great sophomore campaign that would have ended up in me selecting him to represent Team Tennessee in last year's Future Games. The presence is for real with a real aptitude to pitch and work the ball around the zone. True manipulator of the baseball, the changeup is about as legit of a go to weapon in any count to both LHH and RHH. The arm tunnels well off the fastball and allows the fastball to play harder than the 86-88 fastball velocity, 14 months post-op surgery. The frame is thick with strength in the lower half and carries inning eating maturity. Will be a guy that shines in big moments against equal and better competition and someone that carries potential for three offerings with an established weapon in the CH that can carry him beyond college. Expect the fastball to continue to get better, while the best of his ability is out in front of him.

+ Wells Grisham: The big framed lefty had a big day at Senior Future Games throwing all three pitches for strikes early and often. The frame offers a lot of intrigue at 6’3 and 220lbs. Shows well in the lower half with a repeatable delivery. He would fire fastballs in the 86-88 mph range, while landing multiple first pitch offerings to both left and right. The Baylor School product shows manipulation with the changeup at 77-79 with depth that missed a few barrels. Would also land a few sweepers to the glove side at 74-76. There is a present floor clearly established with Grisham and the potential offerings a lot more to like. Shows a high D1 upside with present pitchability.

+ Sean Birkofer: Sean Birkofer did Sean Birkofer things this week at Lake Point this week. Of which includes hitting baseballs extremely hard. In the final game of SFG, he would ambush a ball for a 103.6 exit velo double in game 2. Also collecting a barreled line drive single in game 1. He projects to be a power corner outfielder with a currently feel for tracking them down in the OF. A high follow for coaches and his best baseball is way in front of him.

+ Rhett Persell: Over the course of the 2025 iteration of the Senior Future Games, an undeniable fact arose, that Rhett Persell can generate backspin with the best of them. He put on a clinic on producing low launch, backspun line drives during batting practice. If for whatever reason you were doubtful of his ability to backspin the baseball, Persell would silence those doubts in the final game of SFG action. The RHH would take a pitch at the letters, and backspin it at 91 mph exit velocity for a no doubt bomb. One of the winners on Team South, he has left his mark and should keep his ringer on for the foreseeable future.
