Across Washington and Oregon, three high school players were taken in the first round. Mount Vernon infielder Xavier Neyens was selected 21st overall by the Houston Astros, making him the highest HS pick out of Washington since Corbin Carroll in 2019. LHP Kruz Schoolcraft out of Sunset High School was the next off the board, selected 25th by the Padres, while OF Slater de Brun was drafted in the Comp Round A by the Baltimore Orioles.
Below, we examine where the PNW high school players are heading in more detail. We include the overall farm system rankings, per MLB.com, as a part of each player description. We also highlight several other college players drafted who played their high school baseball in the PNW.

Xavier Neyens SS / 3B / Mount Vernon , WA / 2025Houston Astros: Round 1, Pick 21Neyens joins Houston's farm, currently ranked 29th in the MLB. The Prep Baseball All-American Game attendee boasts one of the best power tools in the entire draft class, featuring easy plus bat speed from the left side with pop to all fields. A 6'2 athlete, Neyens has been the wire-to-wire number one ranked prospect in our '25 WA player rankings. The glove and arm should hold up well enough to stick on the left side of the infield moving forward, but some scouts see a move to the corner outfield as a possible future outcome. The premier athlete has also run it up into the mid-90's on the mound in looks this spring, but the upside as a position player remains his greatest strength to this point. Neyens capped off his high school career with a 3A state championship with Mount Vernon HS this spring. |

Kruz Schoolcraft LHP / 1B / Sunset, OR / 2025San Diego Padres: Round 1, Pick 25Schoolcraft joins a Padres farm system that ranks 25th in baseball. One of the more physically imposing high school prospects, Schoolcraft stands at 6'8, possessing impressive athleticism for his size. The LHP has held the top spot in Prep Baseball's Oregon player rankings since his reclassification to the '25 class early last year. An electric arm talent, Schoolcraft sits in the low-to-mid 90's, topping out at 97 MPH in our most recent look this spring. The mid-80's changeup is his strongest secondary offering to date, with a CB in the upper 70's flashing at times. Schoolcraft dominated in his senior season on the mound, logging a 0.39 ERA in 54 IP with 96 strikeouts to just 16 walks. Schoolcraft is also a power-hitting left handed bat, slugging 10 home runs and 30 RBI this season, but likely will stick as a pitcher at the next level. The Tennessee commit's dominance earned him Prep Baseball Oregon Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.

Slater de Brun OF / LHP / Summit, OR / 2025Baltimore Orioles: Comp. A Round, Pick 37De Brun joins a Baltimore farm system ranked 15th in the league. The Vanderbilt commit and Prep Baseball Future Games alum has risen in mock drafts steadily over recent months after displaying a consistent, hard-nosed approach on the field. De Brun's run tool stands out the most to this point, with easy 65 to 70-grade speed fit for a plus center field defense. The lefty hitter's bat-to-ball skills and selective approach have stood out to Prep Baseball scouts during in-game looks, with plenty of present strength to drive balls to the gaps. De Brun's standout athleticism in a more compact frame have drawn comparisons to OF Slade Caldwell and fellow PNW HS draftee Corbin Carroll. The exceptional outfielder capped off his amateur career with a 5A Oregon state championship for Summit High School this spring.

River Hamilton RHP / 3B / Sam Barlow, OR / 2025Detroit Tigers: Round 11, Pick 339Should Hamilton sign, he joins a Detroit farm system ranked 1st in the MLB. The LSU commit worked through some injury scares early in the spring and looked dominant through the second half of the 2025 Oregon high school season. A lean, athletic righty with a starter's profile, Hamilton features a FB 91-94 that fills up the zone, two distinct breaking balls that have flashed plus at times, and a CH in the low 80's as well. The Sam Barlow High School product has a commanding presence on the mound and a quick arm with a high 3/4 slot release. Hamilton has plenty of strength to fill in his 6'3 frame, giving scouts plenty to dream on moving forward. The upside remains immense for one of the top amateur arm talents in the area.

Truitt Madonna C / 3B / Ballard, WA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
San Diego Padres: Round 11, Pick 340Madonna joins Schoolcraft in San Diego's farm, currently ranked 25th in the MLB. The catcher had a remarkable spring season as a senior for Ballard, leading the Beavers to a 3A state semi's appearance. A power-first hitter in a 6'3, 215 pound frame, Madonna took real strides at the plate with plenty of bat speed this spring. The arm and glove should hold up at the catcher position despite the larger frame. The physical backstop hit .411/.566/.877 in his final high school season, slugging 7 home runs and scoring 25 runs while also drawing 22 walks. This summer, Madonna was a member of Prep Baseball's MLB Draft League, becoming a key part of the Frederick Keys team. Mason Pike SS / Puyallup, WA / 2025Washington Nationals: Round 19, Pick 561If Pike signs, he'll join a Nationals farm system ranked 13th in baseball. One of the most dominant high school players Washington has seen in recent years, Pike stood out both on the mound and at the plate. The right handed pitcher showcased one of the more polished arsenals in the area during in-game looks, featuring a four-pitch mix and a FB into the mid-90's. The righty threw to a 0.84 ERA in 66.2 IP with 112 strikeouts in his senior season. Pike has also built momentum as a position player prospect. The switch-hitter features some present strength and gap power from both sides of the plate. The glove has potential to stick at second or third base at the professional level. Pike's dominance on both sides of the baseball have resulted in two straight Prep Baseball Washington Player of the Year awards.
