This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Mason Hackler is a shortstop and right handed pitcher from Turlock High. Hackler, standing 6-foot-1, is ranked as the fiftieth best shortstop in the state.

This season for the Bulldogs, Hackler excelled both in the batter’s box and on the mound.

At the plate, Hackler was all over pitchers, hitting .342 with 27 hits and 15 runs batted in. Additionally, Hackler had 7 extra-base hits, one of them being a home run.

On the bump, Hackler fanned 7 batters in just 10.1 innings pitched. The hurler only allowed four earned runs and gave up no extra-base hits.

At the NorCal Future Games Tryout, Hackler was a standout of the day on both sides of the ball.

Hackler’s fastball topped out at 84 MPH. Additionally, his curveball and slider showed promise with sharp movement and control.

Offensively, Hackler’s 102.8 MPH exit velocity was the fourth highest of the day. Hackler also had the farthest ball hit of the day, hitting the ball a whopping 403 ft.

Whether it’s at the plate or on the bump, Hackler will be a must see talent in LakePoint later this month.

“Going into the day, there were a good amount of kids who I’ve yet to get eyes on during the high school season. Hackler was one of those kids and I’m glad I got to finally watch him perform. He’s got some good size, a lean, wiry build but has a lot of time to fill out. There is a bunch of potential in the athleticism for Hackler to turn into an elite prospect. The kid has got some real juice to the middle of the field as well as pull side. The ball just sounds a little different when it comes off of his bat, and with some room to grow and get stronger, Hackler is going to be a dominant force in any lineup he steps in. Hackler also pitches and with his frame there is a lot of potential on the mound too..”- Hank LoForte, Associate Director NorCal
