This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Standing 5-foot-9, Chase Mena is a left-handed outfielder from San Marino High.

In his sophomore season for the Titans, Mena hit to the tune of a .346 batting average and a 1.047 OPS. Mena also showed off his power throughout the season, tallying fifteen extra base hits, three of which were home runs.

In the field, Mena flashed the glove with a .900 fielding percentage on 30 total chances.

Mena also impressed on the base paths, swiping six bags on the year.

At the Future Games Tryout, all of Mena’s talents were on display. Mena ran a 6.94 second 60-yard-dash, had a max exit velocity of 89 MPH off the bat, and played a confident outfield. With his performance, Mena was ranked as the number three overall prospect of the event, and the number one best outfield prospect to come out of the event.

Mena’s well rounded set of tools makes him a must watch player when he takes the field at LakePoint. The outfielder’s ability to cover ground, hit for power at the plate, and be a threat on the bases is a huge asset to Team SoCal.

“Mena is a 2-spot standout at San Marino who also plays football which contributes to his athleticism at present. Checking in at 5 '9 154.6 lbs. and running a 7.22 60 with a 85 MPH OF arm velocity you can see the potential for Mena to man either CF or RF for the long term. At the plate the LH hitter unleashes an aggressive swing that shows well with 22.3 MPH of hand speed, 72.2 MPH of bat speed and 19.1 Gs of rotational acceleration. There were occasionally inconsistencies with his timing, but he was able to generate hard contact to the pull side when synced up including 95.1 MPH max EV and a 58% sweet spot rate. The tools are there to go with the athletic ability now with some polish to his overall profile Mena presents an interesting profile.”- Steven Hardesty, Associate Director SoCal
